I spent a wonderful time @ the Hotel 20Degres Sud. "Sunil" the frontman and porter has been most friendly, helpful and supportive by giving me precious advice on taxi rides, excursions and days out. I wish him all the best for a great career and also I look forward to being back very son. Many Thanks and goodbye Donatella (Switzerland)

As frequent traveller we are going to open your eyes about this so called 5 star hotel. They ruined our honeymoon from the day 1 . They gave us a charm room which was so dirty and needed a huge renovation. Shower the way tooooo small , no chair in the room , and unnecessary furniture in such small room and no space to store the luggage ! after 1 week of our stay they decided to upgrade us , but its better again I do not talk about how dirty was the shower , be aware that the meaning of cleaning in this hotel is different than any other place you stayed at. Our T-shirts disappeared from our room, we informed the manager but they did not take any responsibility and they find it normal like all right your T-shirts gone ! But excuse me ?? they were in the room ! There are too many staff everywhere and they never leave you alone like a spy , so annoying ! Lots of mosquito and birds at the breakfast and they do not do anything with it ! and if you get a beer at your room it cost you 11 euro ( Only 1 beer ) !! Anyway at the end we decided to leave the hotel and finish our honeymoon somewhere else which it was the best decision. So much cheaper and millions time better

After a long flight from Australia and a taxi ride, the opening of the wooden doors revealed a quiet oasis in Grand Baie. The smiley face of Joelle greeted us with some welcoming cocktails and fresh hand towels. After check in we were escorted to our Charm room (bottom floor with partial sea view and outdoor shower). We found it small, but cosy and clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable! Joelle gave us a run down of the room features and pointed out what was included. After an excellent nights rest, we were given a brief tour of the hotel grounds (it doesnt take long, the grounds arent large but well maintained). Although its small, you often feel like youre alone most the time due to the layout of the banana lounges. You dont feel like youre in a crowded resort. After breakfast we enquired if there was a larger room, as we wished to have some more space, if it was available. Avi from reception was polite and friendly and showed us an upgraded beachfront room option which he later offered to us at no extra charge. We accepted the offer and moved rooms - it was significantly larger, with 2 outdoor terraces (one which was its own private rooftop - which we enjoyed the sunset whilst the rest of the resort was in shadow). There was also an outdoor shower. We had an issue with the indoor shower (there was something wrong with the plumbing - out of their control) but they were extremely amenable to the situation and did everything they could do to rectify the issue and also offered us an upgrade to a suite. The suite was large, beachfront, with its own outdoor spa, but my partner loves an outdoor shower. We declined the suite due to preferring the privacy and rooftop terrace of the beachfront room. (room 26.) in compensation - we were then offered complimentary 30 minute treatments instead - which were used and my partner said how amazing he felt afterwards. We then wanted further treatments as we realised how good the quality of the spa and treatments were. We also had dietary requirements that the staff were aware of, and after consultation with the chef, we had personalised meals prepared for us - which were not offered on the menu. But they were so good we recommended they should be added to the menu! Which is a testament to their culinary skill. Laval was always so personable from our second nights romantic dinner set up, which included a secluded candlelit pathway to a table tucked away next to the pool in the spa area. There are complimentary bikes for use, and a free boat transfer to Grand Baie (weather pending). All your needs are met within the hotel grounds and the staff go out of their way to assist you. Its a high staff to guest ratio, makes the service personalised and most the staff seemed to Know us by name after only 3 or so days. The outlook from the beach is one of a bay, not open water which would suit ocean weary people. It is a boutique oasis and would recommend others to stay here who want personalised and exceptional service in a small, cosy, welcoming environment. We were sad to leave, but have wonderful memories and look forward to visiting other Relais and Chateux properties in the future. A sad goodbye with Sunil, the doorman, but a photo memory to always remember the good times.

We honeymoon-ed here at the beginning of July and all we can say is amazing ... Small botique hotel with everything required for a very special event in our lives. We had a seaview room with hot-tub outside. Food was great, spa was class, staff very helpful, pool and sea activities spot on. We enjoyed the pool table upstairs. The use of a hire car is a very useful addition. All in all - yes Really recommended Thank you to all concerned

Weve just returned from an absolutely amazing stay at 20 Degres Sud. Its as near to paradise as we can imagine; the staff are incredibly kind and helpful, the ambience is perfect for relaxation and the food is just wow! If you are looking for a place to kick back and enjoy rest and relaxation- then its here! For quite a lot of our stay, we felt we almost had the hotel beach and pool area to ourselves, because although there were other guests around, the clever layout means you feel you have lots of space. Our room was great, and the housekeeping team were excellent. We were looked after by Rani, who made the best towel creations Ive seen. Afternoon tea at 4 is a must. I dont think we had the same cake twice in 16 days. Im a bit of a tea enthusiast, and the teas on offer are great. Sanjay is very knowledgeable and shared how local folk enjoy their cuppa - and he made me traditional Mauritian tea and gave me a present to take home and try. In our view, you should ignore less than positive reviews. Weve stayed in lots of luxury chain hotels all over the world; the Banyan Tree, the One and Only, in the Maldives, Dubai and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, the Pig chain in the UK, Alain Ducasse hotels in France to name a few, as well as lots of hotels that are members of the small luxury hotels of the world. We found 20 Degre Sud to be better than nearly all of these. We usually make a conscious decision not to return to the same place twice as the world is so vast and there is so much to see and experience. However, this hotel is an absolute gem, and we will definitely be returning - as soon as we can!
