A proper mini adventure for the little explorers. Cymru am Byth. Ruins, views, history and culture all set in a truely atmospheric position, beneath Cadair Idris, the seat of the giant...

We were told that there are only 3 Welsh castle ruins in Wales ( other castles were built by the English) so we made the effort to visit 2 of them. This particular site was superb...view was incredible and you could let your imagination run wild. The peacefulness of the countryside only added to the mystery of this site.

A fantastic castle ruin set in stunning countryside. Its a little off the beaten track but definitely worth the drive. Small amount of parking at the site which is good. Nice walk up to the ruin and then you are treated to a stunning castle ruin. There were only a couple of people at the site so we could roam around without anyone getting in our way. The views of the countryside are stunning. A must visit for any castle lover!

The walk from the parking area is short but tricky in places. The ruins can be explored but take great care since the steps and access is sometimes slippery. However don't be put off too much because my Wife and I are both in the upper 70's and use sticks, and we managed safely. The ruins are very evocative and the views are excellent. Worth the effort but watch your step!

As in previous recommendations this is not a place for small children or less able visitors it is only a short walk from the carpark but it is up a rough path which I don't think is safe enough for any pushchairs or mobility scooters to try. Once up there are numerous steps as the castle ruins are on different levels, some of the drops are quite sheer and unfenced so active children beware. The ruins themselves are brilliant and well worth the walk. The views are spectacular, you can imagine how it would have looked in days gone past. After visiting walk or drive the 500 yards down the lane to the church thats also well worth a visit.
