    • Best Hostel on the Camino!

Arrived in Llanes after a long day of cycling, just looking for somewhere to rest between Santander and Gijn along the Camino del Norte, so I wasnt expecting too much from the the Albergue. Needless to say I was so pleasantly surprised by the hostel. First things first, massive respect to Davd who runs the show at the hostel. Free coffee on arrival and a very welcoming vibe. He is the most down to earth and funny host Ive had at a hostel before. Secondly the location is special. Situated right next to the Cantabrian mountains and the incredible coastline, with beautiful hidden beaches and coves, it has the sort of location that could compete with any 5-star hotel. The garden is lovely with paintings all over, a nicely furnished terrace and bar area, about 4 cats and a group of chickens at the bottom for fresh eggs for breakfast. The inside of the hostel is very trendy and cosy, with a great kitchen space, an upstairs and downstairs lounge and nice showers. If any of you are keen musicians, they have a lovely Spanish guitar that you can play. Importantly, it felt like staying in a close friends home for a night, which is exactly what you want at a hostel. Cant recommend enough. Top quality, 10/10. Big ups Davd!

    • An amazing atmosphere

The atmosphere at this hostal was amazing. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming, and the food was very nice as well. I met about half the world while staying here, and the hostal became like a family of solo travellers who all spent time together and shared with each other. As my first time solo travelling at age 23 this hostal became like a second home to me for the 2 weeks I stayed there. And Po is the most beautiful place I have ever seen so its a really beautiful location to stay. Its a small place with chickens in the back yard which turned into my favorite place I have ever stayed and made me want to come back again. Spent the last night there hanging out with some friends from the hostal and the owner David. Who treats everyone who stays there like there his friend. Theres a cold water tap in the backyard with tasty water you can drink at any time and they will wash your clothes for you for a small fee. Its a rustic place in a tiny town which will make you feel like you are living in the country for a week. They have hostals with 3 rooms which was a nice change after the ten room hostals in Madrid. They keep the rooms really clean to. I loved it here and hope to return one day!

    • The kitchen

A nice welcome on a warm morning, but no free coffee. The beds are comfortable, and the 2 blokes who take care of things are friendly, but do not try to get into the kitchen after 7pm, and forget about a cold drink after 8pm - no luck! Although it is a quiet spot, do not try to play music after ? 12. Breakfast is not free. Top point - close to an often crowded beach.

    • The surroundings! The food! The atmosphere!

As hostels go, this is the best one I have experienced ever, and I mean it. The situation is simply perfect, hardly 400 m away from the most gorgeous beach / cove you could imagine. The atmosphere was incredible, you just sit at the terrace, watching their garden, and it is so...Soothing. I had great laughs, someone played the guitar after dinner, and the hosts are the kindest, most helpful and funniest people you can imagine. Thank you, David! Oh, and the food. Tasty, simple, homemade food! I paid for both the dinner and the breakfast, and they were both breathtaking. Breakfast included homemade jam! How cool is that? If I ever visit Northern Spain again, I will not miss this place.
