    • Great way to see Venice

My partner are experienced kayakers and booked a one day visit on a not very promising day weather wise. Certosa was easy to get to by waterbus. The day started sunny, got overcast very quickly, improved for while then we had torrential rain, so generally experienced Venice in all weathers. Alberto and Ciara were both helpful and very knowledgeable. Alberto offered to cut the trip short because of the weather but we both decided to keep going in the rain as it was so lovely to see Venice from a different angle. Parts of the waterways were a bit busy but we encountered no problems and, thanks to Alberto, observed some of the well publicised issues speeding boats cause the structures. We would highly recommend this experience as the best way to see parts of Venice one wouldn't normally see.

I took a one-day history tour of Venice with Giovanni. He was a fantastic guide, very patient and extremely knowledgeable about the history, geology, and current affairs of Venice. The tour started in their office on Certosa Island with a detailed overview of the lagoon and the city. We were issued light-weight paddles, PFDs, and spray skirts, and walked a few minutes to the touring kayaks. Once launched, we paddled across the lagoon to the city itself. The passage was reasonably rough, but the kayaks proved to be very stable and the spray skirts kept us dry. In Venice, Giovanni led us safely through smaller canals, all the while narrating the trip. We popped out of one canal into the Bacino (the main Venetian waterfront) close to the Rialto bridge, but ducked quickly back into a smaller canal. Ditto the Grand Canal. It was enough to get a taste of those waters and enjoy the view from the unusual angle! (Both the Bacino and the Grand Canal are very busy and somewhat rough from all the traffic wakes.) We passed countless gondolas and earned curious stares from pedestrians. Since our tour took place on a day with unusually low tides, we were unable to get out of the kayaks in Venice for lunch or a break (the exposed canals and stairs were overgrown with sharp mussels and slick with algae). By the time we got back to Certosa Island, I was quite hungry and in need of a restroom! The day was a complete success. Our safety was always Giovanni's first priority. Highly recommend.

Recommend kayak in Venice. Good instructors with humor made us feel comfortable and safe. Remember water and gloves. Best if you have some experience from kayak or other athtetics. Best if you are able to go as far as to the channels of the city of Venice itself.

The best part of my Venice trip! This kayak tour takes me from Certosa island crossing to the heart of Venice. Paddling along the water way is such an amazing experience! Giovanni is very caring and knowledgeable, who makes the tour is so enjoyable. And the photos he took are all wonderful! I would highly recommend this experience to whoever is planning to visit Venice! Loved it!

Fantastic way to tour Venice - by water, by kayak. Incredibly helpful & knowledgeable guides, provided all equipment, safety information & cultural expertise during the trip. Is a welcome relief from the crowds too. Recommend lunch first at the restaurant a short walk from the kayak centre. Showers available afterwards. Highly recommend.
