    • Disappointed this time

I had previously stayed here with friends in January 2019 and enjoyed my trouble free stay so booked again for September. I booked this time through "Love Holidays" When I arrived I surprised to be asked for a cash only deposit of 50 which I hadn't budgeted for. When I questioned this I was told that it was "New policy" and I had to pay it. There wasn't any choice to pay by card and so I had to use my holiday money. The receptionist then gave me the "rules" to get my deposit back. To say i was astonished was an understatement. The first "rule" is that you're not allowed ANY visitors, not even in the communal areas! This is totally unacceptable. I came with a large group of people and we were all staying in different places. The rule meant that none of them could meet me at my apartment, have a drink or something to eat with me, otherwise I'd lose my 50! That's just ludicrous and unnecessary. In order to enforce the rule, they force you to wear a wristband do that they can tell if you're staying there or not. Another rule is about making too much noise which is fair enough. However, one family staying here was so loud from morning until the evening that I couldn't bear being by the pool. Communication by shouting just wasn't necessary, even when they were standing next to each other! Yet, not one of the staff seemed bothered about asking them to tone it down. I shall be complaining to Love Holidays as if I'd been aware of the new policy, I'd have booked somewhere else.

    • Know what to expect

I was little bit afraid when I booked a non refundable rate and have read many negative reviews afterwards. Now, when I was there I'm positive I've made a right decision. I really cannot understand what people expect for 40 Euros a night for 3 persons, in July's peak season??!! Yes, the apartments are little bit outdated, with relatively old furniture, but you only spend a night there. WiFi is below average, pretty bad in rooms, but I didn't come to GC to be online. Now, about the good ones, which prevail. Location is great, very central, 5 min to the beach, 3 min to a Dino supermarket. Many restaurants around. They have limited parking spaces in the courtyard, payable 3 Euros a day. Try to get one if driving, as finding it on the streets around is a horror. Pool is fair in size, very clean with salty water. Plenty of sunbeds around, never had an issue with that. Reception is big, average looking, with good WiFi down there. Check in was fast, check out takes longer as they have to check the rooms for damages in order to return your 50 Euros deposit. Rooms were spacious, with a small kitchen, used it for breakfast and once for dinner. Spacious balcony with chairs and a table. All rooms overlook the pool. Bathroom was basic, but clean. To conclude, for those looking for a fair basic accommodation with a great budget price this is a great place. Just lower your expectations and don't look for luxuries. If you want that, you're on a wrong place and you'll find them very close around, but starting from 100 Euros ++ for a night.

    • Very good, but a few drawbacks

I enjoyed my stay at Amazonas but a few things would have made it even better. The location is very good, as others have said. The units are very well kitted out, and everything worked. The pool and it's surrounding area was very clean, as was the whole hotel. The walkway up to the road is very steep. residents using the other gate to go to the beach or to the shops etc should be aware that this gate is chained shut at 10pm. I was very disappointed that despite a sign at the entrance from the road showing that there was food available in the pool bar there wasn't anything except crisps, certainly not the meals shown on the photographs. There is a deposit of 50 charged on arrival to ensure there is no damage to the room. This is returned when guests leave but only after inspection, so guests need to allow time for this. The WiFi is a reasonable speed but was poor in the bedroom. Some of the guests were noisy over the weekend in the middle of my stay there, but Security staff soon quietened them down. Despite these drawnbacks it was a pleasant stay, and completely met my needs. I has some long term residents who have personalised their balconies. Would I stay there again - Yes.
