    • So lovely!

Very much enjoyed our stay here, wish we could have stayed longer than two nights. Location was perfect, right on the beach in the sheltered side of the island. Hosts were friendly and helpful, rooms were spacious and the Shipwreck Hut attached to the Inn was a lovely space to have breakfast, and then have drinks and dinner of an evening. So relaxing. Thank you Geraldine and Steve!

Wonderful location right on the beach hosted by Steve and Geraldine and their very friendly staff. Accommodation clean and tidy with comfy beds, plenty of hot water and a kitchenette with everything you need. When you first arrive and had your welcome cocktail Steve sits down and shows you all the must do things on the island. As an added bonus Steve turns into a musician in the evenings and gives his guests a live show as you sip your Pino Coladas at the Shipwreck Bar and watch the sun go down over the lagoon. The perfect spot in Paradise. Thanks Steve and Geraldine George & Jilly

    • Wonderful staff and Steve and Geraldine are wonderful hosts

Before I begin, I noticed someone was displeased with the smallness of the bathrooms. Yes, they are small. Yes, you have to close the door before you can get to the loo. More importantly, the water is plentiful and very hot, and who is going to sit on the loo with the door open!? It is clean, and the attention that the staff pay to cleaning is simply meticulous, whether bathroom, living room, bar, beach, or grounds. The room was small, but very comfortable. The bed was comfortable too, and had I wished to cook, everything I needed was in the room's cupboards. Internet was rather... variable, but this is not the fault of the hotel in anyway, they are at the mercy of that wretched internet company just like everyone else. I also had a comfortable deck to lounge on when I wanted to, or I could sit near the bar and read, while looking up from time to time, out over the peaceful lagoon with crystal clear waters. It is quite shallow at Aro'a - more suited for wading than swimming, but I am not a huge water fan, so wading suited me fine. I like tropical islands for their culture and experiences, rather than lying around on beaches. Drinks are served in jam jars. This cute idea was inherited by Steve and Geraldine from the previous owners. It is certainly memorable, and measures - whether alcoholic or not - are very generous. My welcome cocktail was pretty strong - very generous again. And as always, it was delivered with a smile by the friendly Cook Island staff. The knick knacks are wonderful - number plates from US states, pirate and other nautical curios, hazard warning signs - it's a very original way to decorate a bar, and very memorable. I remember having discussions with Steve about his previous life in corporate England - and the immense amount of travel that involved, and Geraldine's life as a schoolteacher. She told me a hilarious tale of a trip to Great Barrier Island that... well, it REALLY did not go as planned, and is probably a story the school concerned keeps in its archives to this day. Bad weather, bad food, getting rained out, it was a disaster end to end, but disasters always make the best stories, once the explosions cease and the smoke clears. The roosters are noisy, as they are all over the Cook Islands. I suggested Steve catch and barbecue two of the beastly birds every Sunday. Steve sings wonderfully - he loves the Eagles, and I threatened to make him sing ABBA instead (he hates them). He sings a wide range of other songs too, and his friend Anania plays the guitar beautifully, as does Steve. I tried two other places on Rarotonga as I zapped in and out between the outer islands, and I am now really wishing I had just stayed at Aro'a. Steve and Geraldine also look after their staff. I found this quite moving somehow... one evening I was the last guest left, and Steve and Geraldine were pouring their staff a jar of wine each, and I realised that this was their wind down time. So I quickly had my own jar refilled, and crept back to my room to leave them to it. I haven't seen anywhere else that looks after their staff that way, and I wish more did. The staff clearly adore their managers, and with being looked after as they are, I can see why. I'll stay at Aro'a again, when I am next on Rarotonga. Kia Manuia Steve e Geraldine, meitaki ma'ata.

Found this place on the internet. The view was great and the staff were very friendly as per usual for Rarotonga the owners were awesome and imparted information on what was available to do see and places to eat.On the downside the shower and toilet were very cramped and the bed was not very comfortable..

This was my maiden voyage to Rarotonga. I knew I wanted to stay on the west side, so I can watch the sunsets, and I ended up staying at the Aroa Beachside Inn. I have to say, I was very impressed with every part of this establishment. The office staff was very helpful before I even arrived, making sure I had transport to the airport and giving me a heads up on things to do. My room was clean, comfortable and had a great view of the ocean. From the cleaning staff to the bar staff, I found everyone to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was great, the nightlife at the Shipwreck Bar, The live music on Tuesday and Thursday nights, everything exceeded my expectations. The owners, Steve and Geraldine, Were so gracious. I will return to Rarotonga, and when I do I will stay at the Aroa again
