      The hotel looked very promising with the pictures on line. However, once we got the hotel, their employees are on strike. Made the experience uncomfortable and loud. Most interesting, the concierge instead of welcoming , her first words were you can cancel and we will not charge. The client ahead of me was given a 50?% discount on the rate and I was not given until I asked from what I heard

      We found the room to be very nice and clean. The location is in the north end which is filled with history and many many Italians restaurants and groceries/delis. Nearly every historic site in Boston is within walking distance of the hotel. We used the hop on hop off trolley our first day which really helped to get a lay of the land. Upon checking in we were informed of then employees being on strike with pickets in front of the building. This was only two days after they suddenly walked off the job. The hotel did a good job of hiring temporary staff. There were expected problems with untrained housekeeping staff and also with the disruptive picketers. The staff however did everything they could to make our stay comfortable given the circumstances. They were quick to assist with any concerns. The hotel manager was very apologetic and ensured that we had complimentary bottled water during our stay and refunded one night stay.

      Ok, so I thought a luxury waterfront hotel would be luxurious, so I booked a weekend at the Battery Wharf Hotel for our 36th wedding anniversary celebration. What a mistake. Starting out, we pulled up to the valet to unload our car. We had a few pieces of luggage and could have used the assistance of a bellman; however, there was no bellman there to greet us and assist. So, we unloaded the car and carried everything to the front desk to check in. Check in was fine, but then we were told that our room was in another building across the street. There was no bellman once again, so we picked up all our things and proceeded to walk down the street with it. It was a little confusing as to which building we were in, so finally I set the luggage down and walked back to the valet to ask where the building was. He pointed us in the right direction and we finally found our room. The water-view room that I had reserved online turned out to be a view of a little slip between two buildings. We could see water though, so I guess that is why the room was more expensive. So we settled in and then went for a walk, had dinner and a couple of drinks at the street festival, and returned back to our room. We stayed up pretty late and planned on sleeping in the next morning. We were unable to sleep in because the next morning at 7:00AM a group of employees who were on strike at the hotel were walking around all the buildings carrying signs and yelling at the top of their lungs. We were extremely upset, so we called the front desk to find out what was going on. We were told that it is the people on strike doing the yelling and waking everyone up and that it had been going on for about a week now from 7:00AM until 7:00PM. Of course they did not tell us about this when we checked in. We listened the yelling for a couple of hours and finally, not being able to take it anymore, we found a room at the Marriott Long Wharf hotel and moved. Battery Wharf was kind enough to not charge us a fee for checking out early. It makes me wonder, if their employees who are on strike are willing to start yelling and waking their guests up at 7:00AM on a weekend, what were they doing in the rooms and how were they treating their guest during the time leading up to the strike when they were unsatisfied with their working conditions? And, how will they treat their guests if the strike is not settled to their complete satisfaction? With those questions in mind, I will never stay there again.

      This is a first class property. Unfortunately our stay coincided with a labor disagreement. The management was exceptional in accommodating our party in view of the circumstances. The striking employees were obnoxious and did everything in their power to disrupt our visit and cause us grief. I hope they never work there again.

      I had a wonderful stay at the Battery Wharf Hotel. Centrally located and could walk anywhere. The room was impeccable; luxurious with every amenity you might want. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. I will most definitely return for my next trip.
