Great location, very close to restaurants, activities and even close for a short hike to Windermere. Breakfast was wholesome with a variety of options to suit different taste buds. Our host was super nice and kept checking on us throughout our stay to ensure we were comfortable and this was during a bank holiday weekend with the entire lodge being full.

    • Loved it!

Really lovely hotel in a great location. The jacuzzi bath was just what was needed after a walk over Loughrigg Fen on a hot bank holiday weekend! Our family room was much bigger than expected, unlike most hotels we have stayed in. Would definitely return.

    • Not what we expected

We saw good reviews so decided to stay for 2 nights. We booked direct but were told it was 20 a night extra for parking. After my surprise they kindly took a bit of money off, but it's still extortionate. When we arrived we were impressed with how spacious both the room and the bathroom were. And the room was clean. The bathroom was a bit grimey though, including the shower curtain and tiles. And the 'jacuzzi bath' was very slim so it was hard to avoid the grimey curtain. The large bed advertised was 2 singles pushed together, although they had added enough bedding that it wasn't too noticeable. On the plus side the owner was very nice and friendly! We were mostly disappointed with the paper thin walls. We could hear every foot step and conversation both above and next door, so also felt very self-conscious about talking too loudly, ourselves. The very creaky bed meant every time my partner moved slightly in the night it woke me up and that along with the thin walls meant we didn't get the best sleep. We were also disappointed with the breakfast - partly our fault as we didn't see a mention of 'continental' when booking and it also didn't mention it on the booking confirmation, so this came as a surprise to us that we weren't getting a cooked breakfast). My parents were staying at a nearby hotel and paid less than us and got a generous full English, so we felt it was expensive for what we got. Overlooking the fact that it was continental there wasn't the best choice: mainly toast, bitter tasting orange juice, croissants, thick blocks of cheese that you can't use on toast, berries and yogurt. We wouldn't stay again...

The accommodation was in an excellent location; close to shops, cafes, restaurants and a great place as a base for some walking! The room was on the top floor and although there were a lot of stairs (with a big bag) it had a very comfy bed and great bathroom. The hosts were very kind and welcoming and the continental breakfast was good too.

Perfect family holiday. Friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely time, everyone was really happy with breakfast ( which is a first). Lovely quiet place to enjoy a break from London. So easy to get to everything in the Lake District. Great spa bath.
