    • Beautiful hotel and welcoming staff!

This place is gorgeous and the people are the kindest and most hospitable. The pictures do not do it justice. I was there in June with my family for my husband's work trip. The entire staff made me and my two young boys feel right at home while my husband worked. Carlos Somarriba went especially above and beyond to cater to my four-year-old and six-year-old's every request. They made the trip feel effortless and Carlos made us feel like family. We were sad to say goodbye. I would go back in a heartbeat. As for the specifics: great pool, could be warmer, plenty of food options for adults and kids, the views and the grounds were beautiful, rooms were gorgeous, great shower (always important), very, very clean, perfect location for downtown excursions or day trips for sight seeing (concierge helped us plan a lot of this for myself and our kids). Just lovely!

    • Love the new room charges but especially the wonderful staff!

After skipping a year I returned to host USA college basketball teams in the region. I was thrilled to see the same helpful staff from previous years who work to solve all kinds of issues with our 30 person travel party. From getting us a whiteboard to use in the gym, to helping us find a local optician, they cater to us in every way. Bar/restaurant supervisor Steven Gonzalez even kept Bar 10 open late to accommodate post-game meals. I was thrilled upon reuniting with server Carlos Somarriba at the Hacienda. He was even in touch, encouraging one of our co-workers who is ill and could not make the trip this year. He is so welcoming of the coaches and players making every group feel like they are his most important guests. Room redos are modern and inviting, the executive lounge meals and service are superior, but my favorite thing here is the friendly trustworthy stable staff!

    • Gorgeous hotel with friendly service!

This was our first stop on our Costa Rica tour, and we couldn't have been happier. The rooms had a definite Costan Rican flavor. We stayed at a poolside room, which I loved, because I could sit on patio and watch my son and husband play in the pool. The view is gorgeous. Some walking trail areas, a driving range, and open air dining. Highly recommend the buffet breakfast. Yes, it's pricey, but there are A LOT of choices, and they didn't charge my little man buffet price since he only ate a piece of toast and some bacon. They also have a small gift shop and little cafe where you can get delicious pastries. We walked down to the AM/PM and stocked up on all kinds of Costa Rican "convenience store" food. Everyone in Costa Rica speaks good English and this place is no exception. Friendly staff, super clean, and just gorgeous. I highly recommend it!

    • Welcoming sprawling estate with friendly service and nice food

The hotel is indeed reminiscent of a hacienda, with vast colonial infrastructure, a courtyard, even an old-timey horse cart, all surrounded by palm and coffee trees and lush expansive vistas. The rooms are spacious and renovated, the bathrooms, modern and clean, only the very basic in-room coffee machines were a letdown as they could not make a decent coffee, however there is a 24-hr cafe I suppose. The staff is very friendly and fast, whether its front desk, rooms service or restaurants. The breakfast buffett, albeit pricey, is decent. The Peruvian restaurant is quite good, try the shrimp soup. The heated pool and jacuzzi are a nice treat!
