    • Disappointing. Could be much better.

I know we stayed during the ski season and therefore expected to pay an outlandish tariff, but we expected more of the room in particular. The location of the hotel is fabulous, however it is looking very tired inside the corridors and the rooms. It is on the lake opposite the wharf, with outstanding views across the lake to the mountains on the other side. The room is quite large with a king size bed and the usual facilities. However, Crown Plaza advertise that you can have a room in a quiet area. This we chose but no one nearby thought it should be quiet. When we queried this we were told that they did not really have quiet areas of the hotel! There were gaps in the double glazing on the outer doors. The temperature variations of the a/c were huge before the thermostat kicked in. Very difficult to deal with. In the bathroom were the main disappointments. The shower was in the bathroom with a shower curtain. I doubt that many two star establishments would still have this feature. The shower nozzle was at a height of 165 centimetres. At 183 centimetres I found this problematic. Add this to the very erratic water temperature variations and showering was not a joy. We expected better. We only ate in the hotel once after having a disagreement over what tempura batter was. The staff insisted that it was a very thick heavy batter, which was what they served. To think that all these years I thought it was very light thin and crispy. What do I know? I am afraid that I cannot really recommend this hotel especially at this time of the year when the tariff is extremely high. As I said in the title, it could be so much better.

The rooms are comfortable, there is tea and coffee facilities in the room. The shower over bath was a little odd but fine. The real star of this hotel is reception and concierge staff. They go above and beyond and definitely deserve a mention. The drying room is huge although the procedures of checking things in and out through the back room was a little clunky.

Great position, walk to everything but the ski fields! Buffet breakfast was good and included barista made coffees/hot chocolates. Room was clean, bed comfortable, storage room for skis and boots. Lots of places to eat if you don't want to dine in the hotel.

    • Needs to be refurbished but great location

The hotel is in a great location close to all the shops, restaurants and bars but unfortunately, the bathroom and room is a bit outdated. Definitely time to refurbish the hotel. The buffet breakfast is good especially the juicer for fresh fruit juice. LOVED that.

    • Great service - outdated rooms

Great service but rooms need a serious facelift. Felt like a dodgy motel. Breakfast was also very disappointing but service is top level. Just the rooms were a let down. Not cheap either so overpriced for what you get
