    • Overpriced and definitely NOT five star

ABSOLUTE ONE STAR EXPERIENCE. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is due to several nice staff and the beachfront location. Other than that, our experience at 8 was none the less 1 star... For starters, the Eight Hotel Paraggi is a refurbished 4 star hotel, that is still very 4 star (with a few furniture/decor upgrades that certainly dont make the experience or hotel itself 5 star at all). My fiance and I are 5 star, world class travelers, who have travelled literally all around the world and never experienced such a peculiar and strange experience at any hotel; especially a supposed 5 star establishment. First and foremost, the room assigned to us looked nothing like the pictures advertised on their website/the images shown when making the booking. Upon arrival we were very disappointed that what we expected the room to be based on the images /description directly booked on the website were completely different. (Different decor, furniture, wall color, bathroom ect). This was quite frustrating because the design was much less modern, run down and totally different than what was pictured. This is false advertising and purely just misleading. To make matters worse, the room we booked was a one Queen bed.. and after several nights of horrible backaches realized that our $1,000+ a night room was TWO TWIN BEDS PUSHED TOGETHER!! Im not sure what type of outrageous, sketchy, ghetto establishment is being run here but that is absolutely ridiculous- especially for 5 star?!? Honestly appalling. On a different note, the breakfast was the worst I've ever had in my entire life. Below average ( is an understatement). What is included is worse quality and variety than that of a Marriott... Literally all that was available is a bread basket, a few pastries, 3 types of cheese and scrambled or hard boiled eggs only. If you want anything else or your eggs cooked a different way expect to pay $$$. In me and my finacees case, due to several food allergies and sensitives, this did not leave us with many options to eat. Given that, the staff offered to cook us some 'vegetables' (that weren't even on the menu) and prepare some scrambled eggs that were not drenched in butter and milk. We clarified several times that this was included and not any extra. It gets worse....At the end of our 1 week stay they tried to charge us over $200 for a few plates of dry grilled vegetables (some of the worst I've ever had) with an outrageous foilio of charges. We never even got a recepit after breakfast any of the days until the very end?! We had no idea they were even charging us!! SO SKETCHY. Terrible practices and even worse customer service. Whats the worst part is they never communicated to us there would be charges or gave us receipts after breakfast every morning. (Like I said previously they had actually told us the veggies were included since there was not much else we could eat.) Was really crazy that they just gave us a stack of bills at the very end.. Really shady. With all that being said, unfortunately, this entire experience was all around way below average (2 star at best) and was really frustrating. The fill in- manager also argued and yelled at us when we attempted to sort out the outrageous vegetable bill. The only thing this hotel has going for it is its location on the beach/ beachfront access. This was definitely one of the only nice aspects of this hotel and honestly I wouldnt recommend this place unless they make some serious changes. All in all, the cons greatly outweigh the pros and I would only suggest visiting Portofino from a yacht/boat for a day and skip staying here all together. It is ridiculously overpriced and this hotel is doing some really shady things that are not worth the price or your energy.

Our over all stay is exceptional, everything went well and their team and manager Cristina was super helpful. Only thing is their transfers is over priced and we got a van for less than half the price from the Hotel. :)

We went as a couple for a romantic excursion. It was great! The bay is quiet with a great beach. Close to Portofino and Santa Margherita. Room very comfortable and equipment inside was easy to use. We had the suite - wonderful terrace and jacuzzi.

One of the few hotels around Portofino locates at the beach and this is the main reason for choosing this hotel. It has less than 15 rooms so it is quiet. The rooms are relatively small, but elegant. Breakfast is average, the staff too. Not many restaurants in paraggi so take the bus to nearby towns for dinner.

People make the difference. And this hotel is different right because the staff makes it different. From the moment we stepped into the reception, to the restaurant and to the beach, every single person has been nice, polite and professional, gay friendly, with a bright smile on their faces. A fantastic ingredient to our short break. This is a boutique hotel, with few rooms, well furnished and clean - the cleaning lady was coming twice a day - with a very cozy and romantic atmosphere all over. Breakfast offers a variety of options, focusing mostly on Italian food (which is one of the reasons you are vacationing in Italy!). If I may suggest, I would add freshly squeezed orange / grapefruit juices included in the breakfast (i.e. not at charge). The restaurant offers Japanese options for lunch and dinner too, besides typical Ligurian dishes (go for trofie al pesto!). The staff at the restaurant is really great! The beach has few sun beds, which makes it cozy and relaxing. All is in due order and well taken care of by the lifeguard. They can organize a transfer back & forth to Portofino - FYI the last one back is at 22:30. After that time, I strongly recommend you to take a bus (you can purchase the ticket from an automatic machine next up the bus stop for a few euro), since taxis are overpriced - it is written that the taxi night service costs 23 euro, but the drivers ask you even 40 or 50 euro, so avoid taxi drivers in Portofino! The hotel staff could recommend you excursions, boat trips and restaurants nearby too, and process all the relevant reservations on your behalf. For all Asian travelers: you cannot compare an Asian 5 Star with a seaside European 5 Star one. You need to understand about the context, the location, the history and the natural beauties surrounding the place. I hope everyone can enjoy this place as much as I did. Once again, thanks to all the staff: you are just awesome!
