    • Grand old hotel. Excellent service.

Stayed here for three nights in a standard twin room on 2nd floor while on vacation in Boston. Its a charming old building, and our room was spacious and comfortable with two chairs, a large walk-in shower and all tastefully decorated but in a way that was respectful to the period and style of the building. The room was very well lit with handy reading lights on the beds. There were bathrobes and plenty of towels provided, and even nice little touches like an umbrella in the closet. Felt that the cleaners arrived a little early each morning if we wanted to sleep in for an hour or so, although they did respect our privacy sign. Unfortunately road noise from outside the window was an issue at times - it seems people do like to drive with their horns in these parts! In terms of location the hotel is just a two minute walk from a Back Bay station (if youre arriving on the T, by Amtrak or by bus from Logan Airport), and right opposite Boylston Street for shopping and restaurants. You can also walk from here to downtown Boston or the harbor/waterfront in around 30-45 minutes. We opted to have breakfast elsewhere due to the cost of dining at this hotel, although on one wet evening we did order a room service dinner which was delivered in little over half an hour. Service very good as expected, although I wasnt a fan of the wood fired (i.e. burnt!) style of the pizza base or the number of unnecessary toppings on the burger - the food was soon cold and the menu couldve benefited from simplifying a little for my tastes. Reception staff were unfailingly helpful and they were happy to look after our bags for us on the last day for no extra charge while we had one last look around Boston after checking out. We also appreciated the warm welcomes from door staff and any others we happened to come across whilst staying at the hotel.

    • Disappointed that the front desk manager was so inflexible

      Reviewed 08 September 2019

We had just moved to NY from California. My partner was in the California fires and his lungs collapsed. We moved to the east, where I was originally born for Better Air Quality. This was our first trip up to Boston since moving east. It was a big deal to us because of my spouses critical illness from the wildfires. I went to the front desk and asked for a large deluxe room( due to the need Of having to sleep with an oxygen machine which is very noisey). The front desk manager showed me 2 rooms. The larger of the 2 was dark, but seemingly good for our purposes. She wanted $475 I told her $400 was our limit. It was late in the evening and she wouldnt budge on the price , so we left and very disappointed as we wanted to be settled.

We have just spent two nights @ Copley Plaza & have enjoyed our time with them. Old world charm exudes from all around. The Oak long bar is a tremendous space & is overseen by Phil who is everyones idea of the best bartender they would wish for. We were greeted as long lost friends & the service level was excellent. Courteous staff throughout the hotel & though it showed its age in places, its still a classy hotel.

    • Wedding Brunch

We had both our wedding welcome party and wedding brunch at the Fairmont Copley, in addition to blocking rooms. The staff at the Fairmont could not have been easier to work with. They ensured that both events ran smoothly and that we had everything we needed in the bridal suite the day of the wedding.

    • More and less as one would expect.

      Reviewed 07 September 2019

More and less as one would expect from a luxury hotel. However few things not quite: last day of our stay internet access was down for almost all day; tv placed on a side 'not exactly very convenient ( small room), plugs for recharging also plced in odd places (old building).
