    • Beautiful Classy Hotel

We have stayed at this hotel year after year and can remember my first visit when I was ten years of age. This hotel oozes with elegance and everything is spotlessly clean. I love the grand hall and bar areas and the beautiful hotel grounds are packed with beautiful plants and shrubs. The food is world class and the full service restaurant makes you feel very special. I love the uniform and the table linen. Hopefully be back next year

We have just spent 4 nights in the Grand Hotel Excelsior, my husband booked 2 double rooms, one for us and one for my parents. When we checked in one room was on the 2nd floor and the other on the 5th Floor as they dont like heights may folks opted for the room on the 2nd floor which was nice with a small semi circular balcony overlooking the pools our room on the 5th floor turned out to have an ocean view with a balcony at the front of the hotel. The room was light and airy and the air conditioning was very efficient cooling the room well. We had a fridge and a safe in the room with plenty of places to put your belongings. The bathroom was very old fashioned and badly designed and in need of some TLC as there was paint bubbling above the shower area, also the toilet roll was right behind you and partially blocked by the seat lid making it difficult to get to the toilet roll and to pull it out. The bathroom was clean and the shower efficient, we had a nice little amenities bag with toiletries in it and there was a hairdryer although it wasnt much good for my long thick hair as it took half hour to dry it. We had bed and breakfast, the breakfast was very nice and you could order fried or scrambled eggs and toast which was cooked to order. There was no toaster for general use and other foods on the menu included 3 cereal options, fruit, yoghurt, a selection of meats and cheeses, rolls and lots of cakes and pastries. There was a choice of juices and water along with tea and coffee for order. Mum and I especially liked the mini custard filled donuts and we all enjoyed both fried eggs and scrambled eggs with cheese and toast during our stay. The rooftop spa is a fabulous and very relaxing, there are limited sun beds and comfy sofas and chairs along with a hot tub, sauna & steam room. The breeze up there also helps with the tan!! There are beautiful gardens with plenty of places to sit and also across the road there is a beach area with its own beach bar, you get a ticket for deck chairs and an umbrella but if you want a sun lounger it costs 5. There are 2 outside pools a large pool and a smaller shallow pool for kids and it has a whirlpool in it, this was great for sitting in to bring down your temperature whilst it was very hot. There is a bar with tables suitable for playing cards or dominoes and there is a billiards table and book shelves with books for guests to borrow although there were few in English! Drinks at the bar were not particularly expensive considering its a hotel bar, there is a selection of cocktails, hot drinks and beers. My husband, dad and I all hired bikes which were a great way of getting out to see the town and the cycle track along the sea front made it easy and safe to go out for a ride. The hotel is pet friendly and there were a couple staying with some yapping dogs which were particularly annoying and it was disappointing that the hotel did not prompt them to keep the dogs quiet especially as we were not the only guests annoyed as plenty others were rolling their eyes at them! During our stay my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and having married in Italy its a special place for us, it was however disappointing that although my parents mentioned to the hotel that it was our anniversary they didnt do anything at all to try and make it special, other places we have visited at that time of year have left a bottle of fizz and a card from the hotel staff which doesnt cost a lot but makes you feel like they have made an effort! If I returned to San Benedetto I would definitely return to this hotel as although there were a few things I have picked as issues, the good things far outweighed them! The staff were friendly and helpful although not all of them speak very good English they still tried to be helpful.

I stayed in this hotel for about a week in the Suite Monet (Check it out! Amazing). Staff from receptions to dining area, to cleaning staff are professional and will go far and beyond. They make you feel welcome. Beach service can be included at the time of reservation. The beach is just across from the hotel. The hotel is about 10 minutes away from the train station (with a taxi). Located right in the middle of the palm strip near bars and caf. The hotel offer spa service too on the top floor. The beach service is excellent too with a bar for quick bites and refresher drinks. By the way, a market is blocks away from the hotel too. Great people all around, amazing hotel with pool, garden, parking, beach service, and delicious food. I strongly suggest this hotel for a memorable vacation on the Adriatic Riviera.

We had read some reviews on here and were nearly put off but the price was good and some reviews were good. When we got there the staff were helpful in directing us to the rear car park which was busy but we found a space. The Parking and porter guy was great and very helpful. I would imagine that in high season you might need to take advantage of the free parking in front of the hotel. The room we had on the 4th floor had a balcony to sit out on which faced the sea and allowed a nice cooling breeze into the room. The room was air-conditioned with a new unit in the room. The bathroom was on the small side but was adequate for our needs and no smaller than standard for a hotel of this age. The bed was comfortable with extra pillows in the wardrobe. The breakfast was good with staff restocking regularly. The front of house staff were very pleasant and professional. We had a drink in the bar one evening and found the prices good for a hotel bar. The beach was reached by a short walk across a narrow road and there were cabins selling drinks and food. The sea is shallow for quite a distance making it easy to get in and out and the water was a lovely temperature. We would definitely come back and stay in this hotel again.
