    • Great location and a beautiful room

We had room 14, a large room with a four poster bed and a jacuzzi bath (we didn't get around to using it ). No tea and coffee making in the room but you can make a cup in reception for 1.50. There is also a large fridge in reception from which you can purchase soft drinks, water, beer and crisps for 1 Breakfast is standard continental style for 6 per person. The place is a short walk from the main square and Cathedral with lots of bars/restaurants close by. Parking is free in the main car park, you drive past the hotel, up the hill and through the arch of the Castle Gate and its on your right. We would recommend the hotel and Cuenca and I'm sure we will be going back again.

    • Wow. 5 star rooms in a 2 star hostel!

Wow. Just wow. You must stay. Don't give it a second thought. Having read the reviews I was in two minds - how can such a great place only be classed a 2 star hostel? Well behind the door is an amazingly well thought out, beautifully furnished rabbit warren of rooms, staircases and places to sit with little touches to give it personality and style. We had a beautiful, spacious double room overlooking a gorge ( not the parador gorge) , new town and hills. It came with a table, chairs, TV, dressing table and even a pot belly stove (decoration) - the room was well centrally heated. Spare blanket and double pillows. Comfy bed. The bathroom was clean and spacious and tucked away behind a door we found a sofa TV room albeit with no windows!! Great WiFi and plugs by bed. From bed view of gorge. No breakfast. Coffee facilities in hall albeit at a 1 euro charge. Parking either in 24 hour car park just metres away further up hill or at top ( 5 mins walk) is a free car park. All in all a marvellous place to stay. Great location for old town and exquisite cathedral. Accommodation better than many 4 star hotels. Will reconsider 2 star hostels in future if this is the standard. Thank you Maria.

We stayed in Cuenca for a few nights to explore the area and were happy with our choice of accommodations. Our room was in the rear of the building overlooking the gorge and the outdoor patio area. We found it to be quiet. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was large. Everything in our room was very clean. We had plenty of room for all of our bags and clothes; our room had a wardrobe/closet and a dresser. We opted for the convenient breakfast for a minimal charge. It was served under the patio area and they had coffee, tea, juice, yogurts, fruits, meats, cheese, and breads. Maria was helpful. We managed communicating okay between our small bit of Spanish and her small bit of language, along with a lot of gestures. We appreciated her restaurant recommendations and her recommendation to park in the free lot up the hill. The location was convenient, about half way up the main street.

    • Beautiful, historic hotel with wonderful views

The Hospederia was totally charming. The rooms were all different and some had amazing views. Our room was large, on the 2nd floor and the view over the cliffs was fabulous. Our hostess Maria could not do enough for us, even letting us check in early. Great value for money and the location can't be beat. Maria even told us about free parking up the street instead of the paid parking a couple of doors down.

Cuenca was not in my original "itinerary" however ended up at this little "sanctuary". The hostel is very well situated, very close to everything. 2-5 mns. walk to the main square, tourist information center, lots of places to choose for lunch/dinner. The bus stop to the "city" is just around the corner. Walking to "Casas Colgadas" is less than 15 mns:) Had a wonderful room with the "view" of beautiful Cuenca. The hostel could have been a very nice hotel by all means, the ambiance is nice and very cozy. The room is sizable and the quality of sleep was superb, nice mattress, very comfortable. The hostel is very well kept by Ms. Maria who would go out of her way trying to make sure the guests are well taken care of. Breakfast was delightful. Many thanks to Ms.Maria for making my trip a beautiful memory:)
