Lovely hotel in a great location, two minutes walk from the centre of Malcesine and the cable cars to monte baldo. Friendly and helpful hotel staff. Lovely room with outstanding view and balcony. Blackout blinds made for a good sleep. Would highly recommend and will return.

The hotel has a beautiful garden where you can relax when you're not exploring this attractive little town. Breakfast is superb. Everything is absolutely fresh, including a different home-made cake each day. The rooms are comfortable with efficient air-con and a decent-sized balcony. The best feature is the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. For example, when there was some doubt as to whether a taxi would be available to take us with our heavy bags to the ferry port, the owner offered to take us there herself! This is the most enjoyable stay I have had in a hotel for as long as I can remember. I will definitely be returning there.

Super friendly staff, great location and the garden is so lovely. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. We were in a corner room on the 3rd floor #16 and couldn't have asked for a better view.

    • Pleasant but basic

We stayed here for 4 nights at the start of May as we were attending a wedding at the castle. We booked this hotel based on several excellent reviews, and I feel maybe our expectations were too high. The hotel is pleasant, but is definitely no more than a 3 star hotel (which is what is advertised, in fairness). We felt the online photos made the hotel look a lot more appealing than it actually was. - Our room was obviously one of the older rooms as it was quite small and didn't even have basic amenities such as a kettle or tea/ coffee making facilities, there was not even a notepad or a pen in the room! (That is probably a bit pedantic but it's funny how you notice these things when you actually need them!) There was barely anywhere to lay our cases and one of the wardrobe doors was jammed in beside the bedside locker and we could barely open it which hugely reduced our storage space. The walls are very thin and we could hear every conversation in the corridor outside - The bathroom was dated, and did not contain any toiletries other than one bottle of hand soap which we had to ferry between the sink and the shower to use as both hand soap and shower gel. Even one additional bar of soap would have been nice. No shampoo or conditioner either so make sure to bring your own. Despite this, there was a relatively good hairdryer in the room which was needed as I was getting ready for a wedding and had not brought one - The reception staff were very kind and helpful. They were very welcoming when we arrived and brought us and our luggage up to our room which was really kind. They gave us information about the nearby town and recommended restaurants, even offered us discounts in some of them - Breakfast was good, and the young girl attending the breakfast room was very friendly and nice. Good selection of food - boiled eggs, toast, cereals, cakes, coffee, juice etc - Parking comes at an additional cost of 9 per day, which we found expensive - The housekeeping service could be improved. The maids do not knock when trying to enter, are very noisy in the hallways (the walls are like paper so we could hear everything) and there is no option to hang a 'do not disturb' sign on the door (maybe other rooms had these signs but ours didn't). One day the maids tried to barge in twice (you just hear the key in the lock and lots of fumbling) and when we asked them to come back later, we actually got a call from reception telling us they needed to clean the room. We felt this was a little excessive considering it was only about 11.30am! - The location is very good - very close to the town (5 min walk) and castle (10 min walk) where we were attending a wedding. It is also near the cable car terminal. - I had emailed to ask if they had an iron in the room, as we knew we were going to have to iron outfits for the wedding. They do have one, but you have to bring your clothes down into the basement to use the iron (can't bring it up to your room) which we found unusual - The weather was not great so we could not avail of the use of the hot tub. The sauna comes at an additional cost Overall, this is a good budget hotel. The room and communal areas were clean and comfortable and the staff were pleasant. It is not a luxury hotel however, and does feel a bit dated. It is perfect for attending a wedding at the castle, but if you want more of a 'luxury' experience - stay at the Castello Lake Front hotel!

We stayed in a top floor room with a generous balcony. The view over the lake was stunning. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfasts had a good choice of options and didnt weigh you down! Brilliantly placed for the cable car station. We were able to beat the queues for this without having to get up and out too early. The old town is at the end of the street and the lakeside path is minutes away. The staff will arrange airport transfer if you need it and this worked well. Toiletries didnt include conditioner so if you are fussy about your hair dont forget to pack your own. The mugs in the rooms are worth a mention- Ive come to expect small mugs of tea in hotel rooms but these ones are a decent size! We had a great stay here- cant commend the staff highly enough and would definitely stay in this relaxed laid back hotel again.
