Just returned after a 10 day stay. The hotel itself is clean with excellent location overlooking the bay with easy access to bus and train station within 100metres. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed room 221 no balcony just a view. Room spacious and clean with Good Air Con . Shower on the small side but functional. We stayed Half board and initially this was fine However the hotel is used by Dutch coach holiday firms. Clientele very rude to a point where they would sit in large groups on the terrace push past you when you were eating not using the wide gangways. This resulted in relaxed evening meals being turned into a 2 hour slog with left overs for desserts as the buffet had been ransacked by these people on more than one occasion. As I said dont avoid staying here but B&B would be the best option with excellent breakfast - As the Dutch had already left early in the morning. Beach accessible 10 minute walk down but 15 back be prepared for steps! Would stay again but B&B

I stayed here in August with my partner and had a fabulous stay. From the moment we stepped into the hotel we were greeted by Fabio who made us feel very welcome. All of the staff were excellent and friendly and made us feel very welcome. our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hotel is lovely built into the cliff side and offers stunning views of the bay. Breakfast is buffet style and offers plenty of choice (the local Italian pastries are a delight). You can sit inside but I would suggest sitting outside on the terrace as it provides lovely views. The hotel has a beach which is accessed by some steps at the rear of the hotel and through the car park. Dont walk around the road itll take ages or you can book the shuttle bus free from the hotel. The food is excellent and pleasantly served by lovely waiters. Giovanni is the maitre d and is very helpful and will assist you with any needs too. Two nights are given over to gala evenings with local entertainment. The hotel is only a couple of minutes from the train and bus station from which you can explore the bay of Naples but take time to enjoy the lovely town of Vico Equense a very pleasant hidden gem. We had s great time here and will come back.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Oriente in Vico Equense where to start ?? Firstly its in a brilliant location just across the road from the train and bus station. (The Circumvesuviana train is a regional network of lines running out of Naples to Sorrento around Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum area and of course Vico Equense and costs a few euros.) The Oriente is spotlessly clean everywhere and is beautifully, quirkily designed and decorated. And the views of the bay and Mount Vesuvius youd have to see for yourself to appreciate ! The staff are amazing genuinely nice friendly people who worked very hard to make our stay as brilliant as it was and couldnt do enough to help us. The evening meal was gorgeous and was usually 4 courses of beautifully prepared food served by the lovely waiting staff. We had to pick off the menu for the next night the choice was vegetarian, meat and fish or seafood. Breakfast is buffet style and fantastic. The hotel has its own beach which is free. We had to get a ticket from reception then we used the hotel gate and cut through the car park its about a good 10 minute walk down a steep hill and some stairs but well worth the walk the beach and sea are clean and well managed. (You can get the mini bus to and from the beach if you prefer which is free and runs at designated times.) The Hotel is built in a cliff and is on lots of different levels there is a lift but we still had to use stairs for some floors. Vico Equense has a little centre with lots of lovely places to eat and drink and some shops. Its a 10-15 minute train ride to Sorrento and 2 its 40 minutes to Naples and 3.50. Brilliant hotel and I will go back soon

We stayed at Hotel Oriente for a fantastic week - for our family of 4. Its in a perfect location for incredible views across the bay and for access to trains and buses for easy trips to the peninsula, Pompeii, Napoli and beyond. Our rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean, with excellent aircon and WiFi. Private beach area, with free use of sunbeds and a shuttle bus back up the hill to the hotel. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food was great and varied, and the chef was more than happy to cater for a vegetarian diet. The waiters were great company - Im just sad we didnt get chance to say goodbye and thank you, due to early flights! Would wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

We are about to depart from our stay at the Oriente Hotel in Vico Equense. The hotel is clean, well run with two superb features the view of Vesuvius across the gulf of Naples and their friendly, professional staff. Especially Fabio on reception who with his colleagues made sure we are happy. Breakfast is self service with a range of pastries, continental choices and a chef preparing fresh omelettes. We enjoyed our breakfast on the terrace every day. The room was 238 it has a strange shape but it has a double and single bed and shower room, small balcony with table and chairs and two sun beds. The housekeeping staff were very efficient as was the grounds men we chatted with daily. The beach is accessible via steps that lead to windy road about 15 mins downhill. We did walk there and back and used the hotel shuttle piloted by Michael who was a lovely man, also Batman and singer it seems. The hotel beach is free with vouchers from reception. We also used the far lido (blue umbrellas) 18 two sun beds and umbrella run by an Italian speaking guy who lives in London uk during winter he and his team were very friendly and welcoming. The best feature of Oriente is the close proximity to both the trains (circumvesuvia runs from Napoli to Sorrento via Pompei and Herculaneum for 3.40 single to Naples and a mere 2 to Sorrento or Pompei) we made excellent use of this service to make trips to Naples and Sorrento.Buses leave from Same place to both the beach and seiano. Vico Equense itself is delightful, a well stocked shop is a two min walk from the Oriente and we went to Conrad the supermarket several times. The shops and cafes are excellent we had many excellent meals for around 50 two mains and wine which is very reasonable considering the quality. We found takeaway from cherry light bar and the tiny shop on left past the main square. While we were there the social world film festival was on a very big affair with famous guests a plenty. We would recommend titos, cherry light, Terra Mia, Gabrielles amazing gelaterie and bistrot la piazzetta Overall the experience in Italy has been wonderful we have enjoyed amazing views, hospitality, hired a boat and sailed around Capri and amalfi coast, Pompeii, Naples tunnels and shopping ! Whats not to like Thank you Oriente for a welcoming stay in VE.
