My first sight of the Palazzo di Valle was as it came into view as our taxi drove up the narrow drive that leads to the hotel. To me, the yellow palazzo standing against the azure Tuscan sky was everything I imagined being in Siena would be. As we got out of the car, the sun beating on our heads, I could hear the cicadas as I took in the views of the olive grove close to the hotel, the terrace and magical Tuscan countryside beyond. It was breathtaking. The hotel is charming, unique and carefully restored. Our room was first floor and contained a lovely king size bed and a smaller single (i was travelling with my 18 year old son but he always gets the double being 62). Both were very comfortable with good pillows, supportive but not too firm. We had a kettle, teas supplied and a bottle of water. There was a minibus with chargeable drinks. Bathroom spacious and attractive with a blue tiled floor. Everything was very clean. The flooring was antique, well worn but well waxed terracotta tiles - gorgeous to walk on - and a small sofa. We loved our room. We were first floor so not completely above the parking area wall but beyond I could see that mesmerising view. Breakfast was simple but plentiful with freshly made coffee and tea available. You can eat inside or out. It all felt so relaxing. We were without a car so dependent generally on our feet and taxis. A taxi from the station costs around 13 euros including the fee for luggage. The walk to the town is 10 minutes to the Porta Romana and then 10 minutes on from there to reach the Campo. There is a bus service but we needed to walk with all the gelato we were eating - bus less frequent on Sundays. We arrived on a Sunday and found the supermarket closest to us in the town was shut so if you need any provisions then bear this is mind, there really isnt anything else reachable although there are stores selling drinks and snacks in town. We ate locally at the trattoria across the road which was perfectly acceptable and friendly. To be honest, after a day on our feet we wanted to be close. Our host Giacomo was so kind and took so much care with us. We felt very at home. We look forward to returning, next time with a car to explore that countryside.

This is the second time I've stayed at Palazzo di Valli and the hotel continues with great service - special thanks to Lorenzo, who even spoke French with us - stunning views and a remarkable structure for a 17th century mansion. There was nothing better than drinking an Aperol Spritz watching the sunset in the patio. The hotel has free parking and the location is good, just outside of Porta Romana. I recommend and would definitely come back!

We arrived on the hottest day of the year, from San Gimignano Our welcome was excellent and apart from the rather narrow drive up to the parking area all was great Lovely vaulted bedroom with quiet aircon, Attentive and courteous Management provided all necessary info. Beautiful terrace to sit out overlooking the Tuscan hills in one direction and Siena skyline in another We went into Siena and I had forgotten that it was preparations for the Palio. Sienna was airless and over 40 degrees, absolutely debilitating! So we came back to the hotel, had a shower and repaired to the Terrace for some liquid sustenance. There was a breeze and it was tolerable, we met and talked to some other lovely guests from the UK and USA/ Greece Breakfast was good on the terrace with plenty of choice and the whole experience was relaxed with nothing too much trouble Would I recommend the Hotel YES

What a beautiful and serene retreat from the crowds of Sienna. Only a short distance from the walls of the old town, it is located in a heavenly spot overlooking the Tuscan hillsides. The rooms are gorgeous with extra decorative touches that reflect its rich history. The staff is outstanding - true professionals - who are willing to help with all logistics and planning to help make the most of your stay in this lovely town and region. Breakfast is hearty, rooms are quiet, and bathrooms are well-appointed.

My wife and I stayed here at the end of a two week holiday in Europe, and we are so glad we did. It was a bit tricky to find, but when we did we loved what we saw; a beautiful old hotel, large property, private parking, and amazing views of the Tuscan countryside. Seriously, the views!! The staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped us with advice on where to go in Tuscany and how to get there. Breakfast was lovely and housekeeping was great. The room was so big and sparkling clean. And charming! We loved our visit and hope to return.
