    • I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

From the staff, to the huge hot tub and beautiful/modern room, I could not have asked for a better hotel experience. The extras they offer, like early check in, worked perfectly for me. The security features of the hotel were a comforting feature as well. I was completely impressed and satisfied.

Before writing a review, I email management to await their response. What makes a hotel great from one that is average is their attention to detail, seeing problems that a customer might have, and taking care of these before they occur. This requires foresight. This is not in the mind of management at this hotel. I checked into a suite on Thursday, August 23, 2019, pre-booked for 3 people. In the morning, I sent the following email: 1. There was only a couple of kleenex left in the box on the washroom counter. 2. Only 2 bath towels and 1 shampoo in the room. 3. No bath mat in the washroom and one of the guests is a senior. 4. No water in the room, which is standard for better hotels. When I requested water, only 2 were provided. 5. At breakfast, I used the men's washroom on the 2nd level just down from the elevators. The latch to lock the cubicle was broken. I could not get the paper towel to dispense (perhaps it was empty) so I needed to use kleenex to dry my hands. I used the same mens washroom on both Saturday and Sunday, and everything was the same. I used Kleenex to dry my hands. Parking was also expensive. Consider staying instead at the Matrix Hotel in Edmonton. They offer free parking, complementary wine-and-cheese, full breakfast included, stocked bar fridge (not complimentary), and a suite with a door on the bedroom (the suite at the DoubleTree did not have this design feature).

    • Breakfast buffet isnt free, and there no signs stating it isnt. Not cool.

After you eat the breakfast buffet a staff member miraculously appears out of nowhere with a bill. Theres no mention of it costing, and no signs... no staff either! My mistake was assuming it was like every other hotel breakfast buffet on earth. It was not. Also parking was 20, or 30 a night, I cant remember.

    • Best hotel for Edmonton Marathon

Room was new, very nicely laid out, and perfectly clean. There is a very nice second floor lounge (with balcony), perfect for downtown, and the service we received from Felipe in the lounge was friendly and exceptional in helping us accommodate a special request. Would definitely stay again. (Very close to Marathon start too.)

    • Nice building, close to downtown, deserted neighbourhood

Imagine a Doubletree with a modern glass-class exterior with sharp angles. Looks a bit like a small version of something glamorous youd see in a movie. But then surround it with gravel lots (presumably for future development), mostly fenced in, with construction trailers on all sides. No stores close by that cater to or that would be of interest to travelers of any kind (and nothing really open on the weekend) Thats what this hotel is. No one was anywhere to be seen around the hotel at 2 PM on a weekend. On the plus side its a two minute walk to a great view of the lovely Saskatchewan river (which is far below), and a short stroll to the convention centre/downtown.
