Had an enjoyable stay in this old, fine, historic building which the owners admit is in need of refreshing and updating. Our front facing sea view room was comfortable but 'tired'. Breakfast was good with everything we needed. Staff all helpful, friendly and attentive. Looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed here for a Saturday night as we went to an event at the Empress Ballroom. The hotel was a great location for getting to the Winter Gardens however set back in more of a peaceful setting in the north shore area. The staff were very friendly and we were grateful of the proper car park at the front. Other hotels along the front seem to have cars parked in a way thats blocking everyone in. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. There was also a decent sized TV and kettle so we had our home comforts. Also there was a good sized dressing table and mirror, full length mirror, ironing board and iron. I must say though that the room was in need of a bit of a spruce up ie the fridge didnt work as it didnt have a plug, the furniture was a bit tired. Seems like the rooms could do with some investment and it would be great to see this happen as this hotel is excellent in so many ways. We had food in the bar which was lovely (home made pizza yum!). Also breakfast was great and there was lots of choice. Overall this hotel really is superb and is clearly the result of some very dedicated staff.

From check in to check out the imperial didn't disappoint, we have looked at this hotel many times over the years and finally managed to stay here for our 33rd wedding anniversary. The wonderful rooms on the ground floor which included a spacious dining room (although could get busy at peak times) was well set out and staff never seemed to stop. The staff on reception were welcoming and made both check in and check out quick and easy. Would love to stay again but will have to book well in advance to get promenade facing room
