2 couples on a Macs Adventure hiking vacation stayed here on Sept. 5 and 6th. The owners, Jen and Mick were so very helpful! They helped us adapt our walking route, recommending things we would have missed and were so happy to see! Rooms have all the amenities needed and they are immaculate. Getting so much harder to find "personal"l service--this was such a delight!

    • The place to be when in Ambleside!

Read this before you stay at Ambleside. We've been visiting Ambleside for years now and have stayed at several hotels there - until we found Lacet house and it is simply the best! Lacet House is a family run business with great attention to detail in everything they offer - from the location, food, to the room, rates and company! Mick and Geri are really genuine and friendly hosts who also lay on a great breakfast. The food was perfect and served in friendly form by the family, who obviously enjoy serving their customers. We had our little son with us and Geri made no qualms about getting him that extra sausage (heavenly!) or anything else we needed Lacet house is set at a good spot - not right in the busy center but not far away either. The church, grounds, laundry and shops are all a step away. Also parking was available. The best part is that despite us booking late, we got a nice room for two and it was more spacious than other places we have stayed at - even had a nice kitchen that opened into a beautiful yard Now to the stuff that people rarely get to experience. We ordered a bunch of stuff including phone SIMs to get us going in the UK before our arrival. We got them well in advance over Amazon and Geri kept us informed as the items arrived and handed them over when we got there. They advised us on travel modes to the hotel and taxis were arranged. They even helped us book the Christmas lights tickets 6 months in advance so our eight year old could experience the magic. Also, we were offered a special rate for booking direct. To top it all, we had booked for 4 days, but arrived a day late due to horrendous floods in our home city - Geri and Mick refused to charge us for the 1st day - unheard of in this day and age! All in all, if it weren't for Lacet house, we wouldn't have had the magical trip we experienced. My advice, look no farther than Lacet house when in Ambleside!

We stopped here for three nights, the room was amazingly large with a supersized bed and en-suite shower. The hosts were welcoming and gave us good advice. Breakfast was tasty and filling. We would definitely go back.
