Owners of this B&B are helpful and kind. Always ready to provide advice on exploring Sun Moon Lake. Breakfast was Taiwanese B&B style with porridge and usual condiments. Wife & I stayed in the Standard Double Room. It was clean and nicely renovated in industrial style, love it!

Laurel Villa is a bed-and-breakfast that doesn't lose that "family-feel" at all. From the time of check-in, the owners and staff were very accommodating and made sure our trip logistics were squared away. The accommodations themselves were modern with tasteful decor and even an elevator. Breakfast was cooked fresh and the owner even took the guests on a firefly tour, as well as a sunrise bike ride. Those were definitely highlights at our brief trip to Sun-Moon lake. Would absolutely recommend to all travelers and would not hesitate to stay here again should I go back!

Stayed in Laurel Villa for three times- 2015, 2016 and 2019. This family-run hotel is conveniently located opposite Suishe Pier, along the Main Street, surrounded by local shops and eateries. They had an upgrading done recently and the interiors are modern and stylish. They went out of the way to install a lift for convenience as well. The home cooked Taiwanese style breakfasts at Laurel Villa are delicious, and enriching as well. I appreciate the efforts taken by the owners, Wayne and Kasumi, to inject some local vegetables into the guest meals for them to have a taste of Taiwan. Wayne and Kasumi, are warm, gracious and very welcoming. Their hospitality each time I visited is amazing and really touched me. Once, I stayed there in 2015 and there was a typhoon. The next day, ferry and bus services were closed, but Wayne took the initiative and brought the guests out around the tourist spots of Sun Moon Lake. His warm hospitality left a deep impression on me, hence I returned to the hotel over and over again. I had numerous great conversations with Kasumi and Wayne, and they are very knowledgeable about the history of Sun Moon Lake, and the tea that originate from the Yuchi area. The red tea from Laurel Villa is fantastic. Kasumi chooses the best batches of tea from the plantations and packs them on her own. I returned from my trips each time, with high quality red tea from Laurel Villa. I cannot rave enough about the red tea from Laurel Villa, it is so fragrant, and delicious. Please do take the time to have a cup. The morning bicycle rides are an added bonus to my stays as well, but may not happen if the uptake is low, or the weather is terrible. I appreciate the effort Wayne takes each morning, to cycle with us and bring us to places with amazing scenery around the lake. The time, effort to wake up early in the morning to organise this, and the toll on his body must be immense. Overall, each visit there is a respite for my soul. I had such a good rest at Laurel Villa each visit, from all the hustle and bustle of city life. Highly recommend this place if youre planning to stay at Sun Moon Lake. Looking forward to my next stay with them.

Wonderful 2 nights stay on 27 Dec 29 Dec 2018. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was yummy. We were very well taken care of by Wayne Wang and his family. The entire family including the helpers were caring, attentive and imparted a lot of information and tips to make our stay a memorable one. If you want to catch the sunrise but do not want to trek the distance, this is just the hotel for you. This family owned and operated hotel is located just behind the Shuishe Pier, the place to watch sunrise in sun moon lake. On our first morning, the weather was a little cloudy but we got to witness quite a dazzling sunrise. We were glad we stayed 2 nights because the 2nd morning, the weather was not cooperative and we did not get to see sunrise at all due to low-hanging clouds. We will definitely stay again were we to visit sun moon lake in the future.

This was our second stay at Laurel Villa, and we were once again welcomed by the warm hospitality shown by Wayne and his family. The rooms were adequate and comfortable for a 1-night rest, and the morning breakfast was comforting home cooked food which weve missed after being away from home. Although weve missed the morning walk, Wayne still spared some time to show us around the harbour area and were grateful for this. Overall, Sun Moon Lake is a very beautiful place, and well definitely come back for a longer stay in future.
