    • Like a W Hotel ... in Italy! A 5 star must-stay in Santa Margherita!

This hotel was so sleek and beautiful! The staff could not have been more attentive... from answering our endless questions for directions and restaurant recommendations, to volunteering to pack us HUGE boxed breakfasts to catch our early train, to a yummy welcome platter of fruits and chocolate, we were spoiled from the moment we arrived. The suite was spectacular (too bad we never did use that huge jacuzzi), the breakfast delicious (though i only realized on the last day that you could order eggs the way you wanted them), the aperitivo outside was beautiful -- how could you miss with gorgeous decor, yummy nibbles and ice cold wine? Just a three minute walk from the train station and a 5 minute walk into the town centre made this ideally located too. Only complaint - bathroom lighting is too bright! I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to explore portofino (a 10 minute bus ride away) or doesn't mind a bit of a train ride to get to cinque terre (i heard there were no hotels of this caliber in those small towns). If you love W Hotels, you will love this place!

    • A nice stay at this very modern hotel

      Reviewed 11 August 2019

My wife and I had a really nice experience in this hotel. We stayed here for 5 nights and although this was perhaps slightly too long to stay in Santa Margherita, we cant really fault the hotel. The staff were friendly and the room was very modern. It is a very quick walk to and from the station (5 minutes with luggage) and located not far from some very nice restaurants within the old town.

    • I don't recommend this place.

I don't recommend this place. The service is awful! My brother-in-low reserved fo us the apartment at LHP with prepayment option at hotels.com. At the checkin the hotel charged him for the apartment again and said that hotels.com has just blocked money on his card. As a result he was double charged for the apartment. He hasn't got his money back yet, although LHP confirmed that they had made a mistake!

    • Tiny room with issues

      Reviewed 19 July 2019

Santa Margherita was a better option to stay rather than the overcrowded Portofino. The hotel was located right next to the village. Its modern and you can tell that it has been recently renovated. The staff at the front desk was extremely efficient and friendly. We booked a suite with spa access. Since we only stayed for one night, we didnt have time to use the spa which closes at 8:00pm. The room was quite small for a family of 4. I get that they tried to dress up the room but there were things like a giant pot of artificial plant and a big lantern and other decorations which took up quite a lot of space. We struggled to fit our 3 pieces of big luggage and felt a bit cramped. Cookies and welcome fruits and chocolates were available upon our arrival which was a nice touch. The bathroom was equally tiny with harsh lighting; the choice of white light LED was rather poor. The shower glass was a 1/4 the size of a normal one and was quite useless as water was splashed everywhere. Ventilation wasnt available either which I think was a design mistake and the bathroom was very stuffy after a shower. There were 2 bottles of room fragrance which was overpowering for such a small space; they should replace them with smaller ones or choose some with a softer fragrance. The beds were too soft and the pillows were of very cheap quality. The air conditioning was inconsistent and we felt like it was on a power saving mode in the middle of the night as it got quite warm which wasnt great on a summer day. We had dinner at Francy, the hotel restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the mussels and the squid ink pasta. Christian looked after us and offered an excellent service. The hotel offered continental options of food. The staff was nice and the service was good but I felt that the standard of the rooms was letting all these people down. Also, at 600 EUR per night, water should have been complimentary.
