    • Amazing Experience!

      Reviewed 2 days ago

I would highly recommend this all-inclusive! My husband and I stayed at The Level (Melia's VIP portion of the hotel) and we absolutely loved every moment on our trip. The hospitality and service from the resort staff was exceptional. The food and drinks were great, although for a 10 day trip, we did get out of the resort several times for a variety. There were fish and sea turtles right off the beach and the hotel offered complimentary snorkel gear to enjoy it! Loved every part of this trip--felt like we were at home at the Melia by the end of our stay! Plus, Bahamian people are AMAZING and so generous!

There are not enough words to describe the beauty and the outstanding service we received on our trip to Melia!! This place is Heaven on Earth!! Yes it is true they are refurbishing the adult/swim up pool..but they are doing it for our benefit and to make our experience better next time..I dont care about that..there are other pools to the ocean..this is their slow thats when they do maintenance. They were painting in some areas also. Big deal. So.. lets start from the beginning...I booked a "Level" room..meaning access to more things than regular all inclusive. Upon arrival, they unloaded our luggage and gave us a welcome drink..they kept our luggage and directed us to the 4th floor (one flight up)..there is an elevator.. for Private Check in for "Level" guests. The "Level Lounge" is a private area. They put gold thread bracelets on us..told us all about the amenities for the Level..such as private beach area with food and drink service (with cabanas)..private breakfast and lunch/early dinner in the O the Level Lounge, there are snacks and drinks (with top shelf alcohol available) all day and into the evening. We could go to the Level Lounge to get preferred reservations for dinner...YOU MUST MAKE DINNER RESERVATIONS FOR ALL RESTAURANTS EXCEPT THE MARKETPLACE BUFFET..TAKE NOTE: NOT ALL RESTAURANTS ARE OPEN EVERY NIGHT DURING SLOW SEASON..BE SURE TO ASK WHICH ONES ARE OPEN AND MAKE RESERVATIONS EARLY IN THE DAY. There is The Angus Steakhouse that IS NOT included in the all inclusive..BUT A MUST DO!! The have the most delicious steak I ever had (I didnt even put ketchup on it!!)..It is pricey.. but worth it!..Back to the check in and onward:..we got to our room..9th floor..oceanfront with balcony..BEAUTIFUL VIEW! They brought our luggage in. There was a fruit and cheese tray there, with Perrier water. We had a Keurig coffee maker in our room, robes, slippers, there was not a fridge or microwave..but that was fine with me. We decided to go right to the beach. Down the elevator to the first floor and right out to the pool area. As level guests..we had a private beach area with cabanas with beds..or lounge chairs under thatch roofs..whichever you prefer. There are 2 towel huts to get towels and for non level guests, this is where you order food. For Level guests, they take your order on the beach and bring it to you!! (OMG a cabana person!!) The beach was WONDERFUL!! Back inside..there is a Starbucks (not included)..and it is just beautiful inside! So clean and big. Everyone is so nice and helpful..always smiling! We had breakfast every morning in the O Grille and the sweetest woman waited on us every day..SHARETA BOWE..she is wonderful!! Included in your stay at Melia is free access to BALMORAL ISLAND..a 5 minute speed boat ride from the Baha Mar dock (just down the beach). This is Sandals Island, also, but they are seperate area. Also the cruise ships have excursions to the Island but they are in a seperate area as well. here you can swim with the dolphins and feed the stingray (additional cost). There is the most beautiful water I have ever seen. I was up to my neck and could still see my feet. Plan your day for after breakfast or lunch. There is food and drinks there but VERY EXPENSIVE. There is a Starbucks on the Island, also. Lounge chairs and thatch roof shade is right on the beach. Back on the main sure to catch the #10 bus..jitney (5 minute walk from hotel) downtown Nassau and the Fish fry. There are numerous #10 buses...and they all go by the hotel, so any you get on will take you right back to the hotel. The Fish fry is a must is an area on the beach with about 20 vendors with all kinds of food available. Downtown, there is the Straw is HUGE! (outdoor, under cover vendors selling tourist stuff)..where the cruise ships come in. The vendors are VERY AGGRESSIVE in their BE FIRM..and tell them you are just looking..You will have 5 people trying to get your attention at once. Back at the hotel..go right out the front doors, down the steps, across the the Daiquiri Shack!! It is famous in its own right! (look on Trip advisor) cold, slushy daiquiris, AMERICAN DOMESTIC BEER, there is a food shack right behind it..MUST DO! Be sure and take the FREE black bus to Baha Mar. Nassau's newest and largest casino hotel. You MUST go at night to see all the light shows and be sure to ask for the "Fire and water" show...the pools are beautiful at night and they have dancing waters like in Vegas. Back at the hotel..go to the Tapas Lounge (in main lobby area) for drinks and be sure and order wings..they are fantastic! Overall.. to was the best vacation I have been on. They treated us like royalty. It was beautiful..sure there might be a few bumps in the I said.. this is their slow time..this is when they refresh the hotel to make our next experience better. They dont ever shut down, and they dont have "winter" they have to do what they can when they can. Yes they put a $200.00 hold on my credit card..but you can use that hold for dinner at Angus, or Starbucks, or the gift shops or room service..but if you dont use get it back. It's not a big deal. Just enjoy yourself, DONT STRESS THE SMALL STUFF!! If you cant afford a $200.00 hold on your dont need to be going in the first place! This is our new #1 vacation place!! These people invite us into their "home" so gracious!

MAIN POOL/BAR UNDER CONSTRUCTION UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE NO ONE WILL TELL YOU, DURING BOOKING, ON THEIR SITE OR AT CHECK IN 15+ years experienced all-inclusive travelers We were handed our check-in info with a letter saying there was pool construction on 8/26/19. We read this out loud and say "Well its been almost 3 weeks so we are good to go." Check-in agent SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE POOL STILL BEING CLOSED THAT DAY We then go to the pool bar and find that the bar up top is functioning, but there is a big green tarp wall around the pool bar/adult area. There was one bartender for about 15 people. The second bartender had to be summoned from sitting down about 50 feet away. We had two drinks. Made another loop because MAYBE there was something we missed or areas of the other pools that weren't filled with kids. No. Made out way back to the same bar. Middle of the third drink, workers came back to work and JACK-HAMMERING THE POOL. There was no way we were going to sit at bar, with less than attentive staff and jack hammers. We can do that for free at home. So we began to look for another all-inclusive. Paid for it (now we have paid for two all inclusive vacations). Went to the front desk and say we are leaving and want our money back. They refused to give us any money back, saying the trip was pre-paid for. ALL VACATIONS ARE PRE-PAID FOR. Asked to talk to a manager---of course one was not there. Packed up, checked out and cabbed it to the Riu. We were in the Melia maybe 2 hours.

    • Worst "So-Called" All-Inclusive EVER!!!

      Reviewed 4 days ago

Where do I even start smh. Let's start with the $200 deposit per room that we knew nothing about prior to checking in. My friends and I take an annual trip together and book through a travel agent and had never had to make a deposit upon arrival. We get to our room and it looks like a page out a magazine from 1961. Nothing is updated but the TV that stays staticey and fuzzy. The rooms are very outdated, small, no mini bar just water, nasty carpet, worn out carpets, dusty, stain toilets and worn out mattresses. The front desk did move the both of the rooms reserved to a pool view room instead of seeing muddy dirt and construction machines. The food was mediocre at all the restaurants. The adult pool was closed so had to get in pool with disrespectful kids driving in without any regard to other guest. Not to mention this is not an all-inclusive resort. Certain items on the menu's you have to pay for not to mention room service requires a $10 delivery fee. And, when you try to order via phone no one answers along with the front desk not answering. With any number you dial all the phone does is beep. After 45 minutes I was able to get a bellhop on the phone to order room service. The shuttle that was provided gave a time of 2:50 being the last pickup time from a local bar/club. Myself and friends waited at the pickup location from 1:50-3:20 and no one showed after numerous calls with reports of the driver being 15 minutes away then 5 minutes away an as of 3:25 a shuttle never showed. We took a taxi for a minute and a half drive and had to pay $15. The agent at the front desk said she didn't know anything about the shuttle since it didn't technically work for the hotel and that we would have to take it up with them, when we specifically asked the driver what time the shuttle stopped running. I've been to many all-inclusive resorts and this was by far the worst. While sitting at the bar enjoying a drink, my friends and I noticed roaches crawling on the bar countertop and floor. We brought this to the attention of the bar tender numerous times and he ignored us and then made a joke about them being out early. He never tried to access the problem but just let them crawl over the counter and "clean" cups that he was pouring drinks into. Front desk staff was very rude when asking for simple assistance such as is there a way we can warm up our food. There are very small refrigerators in the room without a microwave. The balconies aren't even big enough for two people to sit out and enjoy the weather. Hardly any entertainment. We enjoyed karaoke and the DJ on Sunday night but that was it. My friends and I are sooooooo disappointed that we wasted our money on this so-called all-inclusive resort/hotel. Motel 6 is better than this place. Please take your business elsewhere and you will thank me. I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked to use being off the property as much as possible and only coming to sleep. Please don't waste your money and research other options that will be worth your hard earned money and contribute to a great fun-filled vacation.
