I had the stuffed shrimp and my husband had the prime rib both at around $32 a piece. Both were very bland. I had a baked potato and he had the twice stuffed potato. Both tasted as though they were cooked the previous day. We were served a loaf of bread that was good and it came with a salad bar. The 'famous' Caesar salad that was probably the best thing I ate. There was an assortment of 3 little breads which were very good but I found the rest of the salad bar to be meh. We both had one beer & $100 later felt like What we were served for the price point was seriously off. The waitress friendly and attentive enough. I was excited when I found out it was supposed to be like a Castle. Instead I found it to be dark dusty and very outdated. I really wanted to like it but unfortunately really didn't. All the prices are extremely high for what you are being served. For the price that you pay you would think they could afford to give you a few measly grains of salt.

While growing up in Philadelphia in the 50s and 60s, my parents took us to the Pub on so many occasions. I can still remember the hearts of lettuce and steak enbrochette. So on a recent visit to Philly, we all (6 people) decided to return to the Pub for dinner. It was like going back in time - nothing changed, except the prices. The decor was the same, desperately in need of an update in furnishings, carpeting, fixtures, furniture. We could not believe that nothing has changed. The menu was extensive, but the food was mediocre, at best, My. Father could not chew his steak and sent it back. None of us were impressed with anything we ordered. But, the salad bar was varied and tasteful. And, so we realized, that you can't go back. Just remember it the way it was.

Interesting.......I'm seeing some negative reviews of the Pub and it appears as though most of them are recent. Had I not visited myself, this is about what I'd expect to see. It makes me curious as to the backgrounds and expectations of the diners. I'll be honest, I had little to no expectations on my visit. I had not been to The Pub in over 30 years!!! It used to be my choice of restaurants for my birthday dinner. But with so many other options out there that are more geographically desirable how do I go back? So here we are 30 or so years later and it's still there despite the ever-changing everything in life. I showed up (and stayed for lunch) as a driver for my aging father who was meeting a group of his retiree friends. There were approximately 20 of them I'd say. Upon entering, I have to say I was surprised.........nothing has changed. It is exactly the way I last saw it. but that's a good thing since I always enjoyed the open room atmosphere that was The Pub. Once all were present, we were seated and waited upon immediately by a very friendly (and sometimes sarcastic in a funny way) staff. The lunch menu included a variety of sandwiches as well as their snapper soup, soup of the day and their famous salad bar. Being that it's a steak house, I opted for the prime rib sandwich which was a great choice with a side of snapper soup....another great choice. I had a good look at their dinner menu as well. Most dinners were still very reasonably priced though the lobster specials etc managed to get up there. My father enjoyed a Caesar salad that the waitress gladly made for him due to his lack of mobility. I didn't hear one complaint from the crowd and I certainly had none. I'd gladly go back to try a dinner if/when ever in the area again. I admit, the Airport Circle area isn't the most desirable of places to go but if the dinners are like the lunch, i'd have to give it a try. I see some reviews ask how this establishment has stayed in business over the years which I've also wondered myself. I have wondered not so much because of the quality of the food or service but mostly because of the location. Well, like I said, after my visit, I was very pleasantly surprised and now I can understand how and why they are still going strong. Kudos to The Pub!!!!

    • Zero Customer Service. Total Money Grab

Over the the past 40 years I have spent thousands here celebrating birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and just simple dinners. What used to be a decent and predictable steak house has turned into a money grab with absolutely ZERO customer service This evening four of us went out for dinner and I ordered one of the specials.. a $55 bone in filet. I requested my steak cooked medium and it came out well done. By the time I found our server, the rest of my party was almost finished their meal. She asked if I would like another one. I politely refused and simply asked to have it removed from the bill. A few minutes later, the server returns and informs me there would still be a charge for my salad even though I sent my steak back. At this point, I am extremely offended and spoke with the manager who honestly didn't care one bit and told me because I made one trip to the salad bar I had to pay the salad bar only price. I was offended and shocked at such an arrogant response over a handful of lettuce. I will never patronize this dump ever again. The Library on Route 73 is a much better choice, plus their salad bar is 100X better. I will be posting this review everywhere I can. If I can dissuade just one person from going here, it's worth it.
