    • Lovely Setting

We were treated to afternoon tea at this beautiful hotel situated in a serene setting overlooking the sea. Traditional tea with dainty sandwiches, cakes and delicious scones, jam and cream. The service was excellent and staff friendly. We could have sat anywhere and chose to have our tea indoors as there was a stiff breeze on the pretty terrace. The interior rooms are very elegant and the Ladies Room is really lovely. We would love to stay in one of the gorgeous rooms sometime in the near future, maybe a birthday treat! Well worth a visit.

    • Proper afternoon tea in a fabulous setting

The Oreston Manor is tucked away down a leafy Devon lane only a 10 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Torquay. We booked for afternoon tea and were warmly welcomed and asked were we wanted to sit, with the sun shining and sea sparkling we took advantage of the lovely outside space, pretty gardens and gentle sea breeze. Afternoon tea is perfect, loose leaf tea (with a strainer!), fresh sandwiches and a selection of bite-sized desserts. For me the highlight was the oven fresh scones, served with lashings of cream and jam...just heavenly!! This is a traditional afternoon tea, served by super friendly staff in a beautiful hotel, just what we were hoping for!!

Such a perfect place. Everything just right. Staff lovely, rooms beautiful and clean, food to die for. I hope TripAdvisor has the good sense to remove the vindictive one star post. They seem to have nailed it on the head when they say it's an upset member of staff. For someone to target a business in this way is a disgrace they should be removed from trip advisor.

    • Hot tub in car park

Firstly I would like to say the staff were lovely and welcoming. We drove over from the other side of the country to celebrate my 30th birthday in Torquay. It was hard to know what to do when you have a 4 month old and the staff at reception were helpful in directions where to go out for the day pram friendly etc. Now the reason for my star rating and why we were left disappointed is because of the price! We paid a lot of money to get a room with a hot tub. Having the hot tub was a nice touch because when baby was asleep we got to have some luxury.... however we were put in the couch house which sits surrounded by the car park. There was work going on somewhere in the daytime, not in the hotel but somewhere close we wasnt warn about. The beds were uncomfortable, mainly the pillows and the travel cot was like a slab as a mattress. Now I had thought with the photos on the website with the hot tub on the balcony with the view would be what I would have received for the amount I paid... what we actually got was a separate building in a car park, could barley see the sea... not acceptable for the price that was charged. The food was nice, no problems with dinner but I wouldnt say it was exceptional. Breakfast was average, wasnt even aloud a latte with the food, they said they dont serve them with breakfast. As beautiful as torquey was, even with the staff being nice, we were left disappointed spending the amount we did, which we saved and worked so hard for, to then experience our stay being so average.

I booked the Orestone Manor for my wifes surprise birthday break and we were absolutely amazed at the experience!! A wonderfully eclectic property and we stayed in one of the coach houses. The room was immaculate with a super comfy bed and had a hot tub which was fantastic! The staff were very attentive and professional but as others have said completely unobtrusive. We ate at the hotel on both nights and must say that the food was truly amazing!! In summary a totally amazing stay and we would thoroughly recommend the hotel to anyone and look forward to returning soon!!
