I have recently visited this hotel on a 3 night trip to Florence with my boyfriend. We booked the junior suite, which was absolutely stunning! The bed was extremely comfy, large bathroom and separate sitting room! We was provided with everything you could need, water, hairdryer, toiletries, robe and slippers! The room was modern and clean and the air con was powerful. Breakfast was included within our stay. There was plenty to choose from, such as meats and cheeses, eggs, bacon and pastries. Also a selection of juices with waiter service for hot drinks. In addition this this, between 4-5.30 the hotel also offers a complimentary afternoon tea. We found this a really nice touch! During our visit we took the opportunity to use the spa facilities on two separate occasions. You have to pre book this, however one night we pre-booked with only half hour notice and the hotel had no issues with this. The spa was perfect after a long day of walking busy Florence! The bar at the hotel is also lovely, and reasonably priced! It was a nice way to end our night having a nice drink around the pool before heading back to our room! The location of the hotel is ideal if you are getting the train into Florence as the station is only a 5 minute walk away! Overall great hotel, and would highly recommend.

This is a central and lovely small hotel within walking distance of the Duomo. There are many nice hotels in Florence, but what makes this one stand out is the staff. Teresa at Reception is particularly lovely - welcoming, genuine and so professional. She was efficient and helpful when I asked to change room, she provided the names of excellent local restaurants and was consistently calm, personable and professional - a real asset to the hotel. The breakfast room staff were also excellent. The hotel is definitely very nice but the staff make this hotel a winner.

Pros: Facilities, Smell, Always cool Con: Inconsistent shower temperature? This must be the first time that I'm commenting on how a hotel smells; from the lobby to your individual room, this establishment always smelled fresh and lovely! Prior to checking in, I had read some reviews about having trouble with booking the spa facilities, but we had no trouble at all and we were there during peak traveling season. The staff are helpful, friendly, and professional. We were able to reserve time in the spa upon arrival, same-day. Hassle-free, might I add. In fact, I'm pleased that reservations are required because our experience was pleasant mostly due to the privacy. If everyone could access the facilities at the same time, it would not be a relaxing atmosphere at all. After a day of traveling and sightseeing in 40-degree weather, it's nice to be able to jump into an ice bath and the pool! Speaking of feeling fresh, I want to commend this hotel on always staying cool! Unlike most other hotels that require your key card and some start-up time to get the AC going, our room was ALWAYS cool, even after an entire day sans key card. Next, location. I picked this hotel for its proximity to attractions. For example, it's minutes from Mercato Centrale (go here for lunch!), and walking distance from Galleria dell'Accademia, and countless shops and restaurants. It's also a walkable distance to the train station: Firenze S.M.N. (We took the train out to Pisa, so we saved transportation costs to and from the station.) On the other side of the coin, the hotel faces a park where there were homeless dwellers. There were also a few shadier looking characters around, but I didn't necessarily feel unsafe. I witnessed a man trying to forcibly take another man's lottery tickets, but again, I didn't worry that someone was going to try to snatch my purse or anything. My only "con" was the inconsistent water temperature in the shower. For the first few nights, I had issues with how hot the water would get; I had to constantly adjust it down. However, on the last night, the shower was hardly lukewarm for me and I never did end up getting any hot water. Temperature aside, the water pressure was always good and the bathroom was clean. The blue light was also a nice modern touch. Finally, breakfast was served in a spacious dining room that spills out to the poolside patio. Really nice place to start the day. We definitely enjoyed our stay with Palazzo Castri 1874.

I chose this hotel to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday and I am so glad I did! It is excellent! It delivered on every aspect. Firstly the staff are very accommodating and helped me sort out restaurants and bookings for our stay, going well over expectation. In particular I would mention Laura, Sara, Emma and Sandra - but they were all super! Thank you all. The Lemon garden and Wellness Spa are a welcome escape from the hustle & bustle of the city. Ideally located, all main attractions and the train/bus station are a 15 minute walk away. We had the deluxe room, which did not disappoint - you have your own terrace overlooking the garden and Wellness pool. If you're going to Florence, choose this hotel! It really is the best.

We arrived from Tuscany a bit before noon and our room was not ready. No worries, the hotel stored our luggage and we went exploring. Upon our return, we were checked in quickly and we had our room keys. We had two rooms that both overlooked the courtyard. The rooms were a good size and had plenty of outlets to keep those tech gadgets charged. Another plus was the A/C was very strong. Breakfast was included each morning, you could order made to order eggs with the waiters. They had the usual meats and cheeses and fruits, everything was high quality and staff was continuously restocking items. We also had some drinks at night before dinner and the service was excellent and drinks were reasonable. Yes, the gym is small but it was functional for our use. The only qualm was the fitness center was very hot in the mornings and the A/C took a while to cool down the room. WiFi was consistently fast and there wasnt much latency. The courtyard by the pool was pleasant to sit in the afternoon and have a coffee after a long day. Overall the hotels location was the selling point. There was a grocery store down the street as well was a laundry that was needed for a 14 day trip. The hotel was close to many attractions, it was a close walk to the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi gallery and the duomo. Staff was generally pleasant, we found the staff at breakfast and drinks the best. The front desk staff was hit or miss, but generally tried to help. Given the location and the neighborhood we would return to this hotel in Florence.
