We stayed there for one night. And its good that only one.... Only the next day, to our surprise, we learned that the hotel was completely renovated in 2019. When we booked, we liked the appearance of the room, and we took it. First, we were accommodated at small building on the 1st floor in one room, entering into which we immediately felt a terrible smell of chemicals, and then we saw a man inside who was repairing something. After the complaint, we were relocated to the next room, however as small as the first one and not generally corresponding to the photographs we were guided by. The girl tried for a long time to explain the difference, but we did not argue... Room is clean, bathroom is good. The second surprise was waiting for us at night. The beds were so hard that I couldnt get enough sleep. Also very amused situation with the light in the toilet. You just can't turn the lights on and off. A motion sensor was installed inside, which turned off the light after 2 minutes of inactivity. Given the fact that the room is extremely small, and the door to the bathroom is made of frosted glass, you can imagine how any trip to the toilet was illuminated in the room... Cuisine: Included breakfast, fully edible. They do not have a large assortment, but all within. We ordered USA Burger from the menu for lunch - and here we were faced with another disappointment: Huge bread, dried meat, cheddar cheese and a slice of tomato. This is all the contents of this product. There was no ketchup, no other sauces, no lettuce leaves inside. Pool: sea water. Chaise lounges of 3 types: Very old, not quite old and completely new. The last few. Renovation itself did not seem to affect the basin itself. Parking: 19 euro for night is over over over price!!!! So, as i said - Its 3 star hotel, Not a 4!!! Sorry for not much photos....

    • Nice Rooms, Good location

This could be a really nice hotel. We came early June and the hotel was pretty empty. So management, I guess, saved money by closing the pool and the area around it, as well as the bar. We couldn't get a drink or any snacks in the evening at all and had to go downtown. The room itself was actually very nice with a nice size terrace leading to the hotel pation which eventually led to the pool area. It was very hot during the time we were there but at least the room had A/C. Breakfast was so, so and costs 9 Euros per person. Quite frankly that was about what is was worth. Not a large selection. However, to be fair, they did prepare special requests, like omelet, eggs over easy etc. Guess it probably had to do that there were hardly any guests. Parking is outside for which Euro 18.00 is being charged. The location was actually quite nice, close to downtown and the water. The ladies at the reception were very friendly and one lady in particular was very knowledgeable on how to get around best to any of the neighboring towns. We made this hotel the outpost for travels to Portofino and Cinque Terre. I would strongly suggest t stay in Santa Margherita Ligure and take teh boat to Portofino or the train to Cinque Terre. The rooms were very reasonable. But next time I will make sure all amenities are open!

We read the bad reviews from 2016/7 and were worried. IGNORE THEM. This place has had a major makover. New lifts/reception area/rooms/pool area Conmensurate with the new decor, the sevice has been great. Reception was extremely helpful with an early check in, Stefano in the bar/pool area was cordial and helpful and the houskeeping was great. We had a heat wave during our stay and the pool was a great centre (combined with reasonably priced cocktails) to retreat. Highly recommended

We went in in the middle of August when generally places like Santa Margherita are very busy. We found an enchanting, quite, relaxing place. The swimming pool and bar-restaurant area are a surprise: great views of the mountains and the nearby park, calm and nicely exposed to the sun and the sea breeze. Our room was completely renovated, very comfortable and amazingly quite, with mountain views. We had dinner and some snacks at the restaurant bar. All the food was freshly prepared, tasty and "very italian" despite the name and the international standing of the hotel. Highly recommended

    • Infrastructure may be 4 stars, but service is definite less than that

The hotel could be really good if management did not try to save/earn money in things that annoy the guests. For example, the self rating of the hotel is 4 stars, but rooms lack basic amenities, like glasses for water, shampoo, tea/coffee. Guests are told not to bring any food or drink, not even a bottle of water, bought outside the hotel to the pool area... really, you are forced to buy overpriced water under over 30 C if you want to spend the afternoon refreshing in the pool....
