    • Great hotel breakfast

      Reviewed 4 days ago

I stayed in this hotel for one night for work travel. First impressions was it seemed like a boutique hotel with it's split level floors, not being a high-rise and wallpaper dcor. A highlight for me was the hotel breakfast where the ala carte menu was included together with the continental buffet. The coffee was also excellent! Location wise it is close to the main city centre.

Stayed in a Hotel Room. Room was quite spacious with King Size or larger bed. Bed to the soft side but very comfortable. Settee in the room. Table and Chair. Stocked Mini Bar and Fridge. Espresso machine. Iron / Ironing Board, Safe. Bathroom good size. Plenty of hot water. Stayed in September and A/C was quite effective in warming the room. Arrived on a Saturday evening and Restaurant was apparently full so did not eat in Restaurant for evening meal. Had breakfast in the Restaurant and was reasonable in cost and good range of food. There are other restaurants in the vicinity. Street parking appears to be limited. Parking for a fee is available underground in an adjoining building. Fee was reasonable. Getting from parking area back into Hotel a little confusing at night. Staff spoken to were quite friendly and helfpful.

    • Convenient and comfortable business hotel in the city centre

The room is comfortable and with all facilities needed for a business hotel. The temperature can be adjusted to whatever you want, which I like. The location is very convenient for doing business in the city centre (close to London Circuit). There's a nice bar. Great choices for breakfast. Service in the restaurant is a bit amateurish, but very friendly and polite.

    • Unable to lock your front door!

      Reviewed 02 September 2019

This place is one of the most complicated places to stay. The establishment is made up of both hotel rooms and apartments that are owned privately, so there is some inconsistencies in how they are fitted out and where they are. My room's front door could not be locked, so I had to barricade the door while I had a shower and take a nap before going out. I actually asked for a hotel room, as I find it easier just for one night, but I was given an apartment. All the apartments are spread over 3 or 4 different buildings on a large block and it is like a rabbit warren trying to find your way to your accommodation. The staff are also unhelpful and ignorant, as one young lady at reception said they couldn't fix my door because it was a Sunday! Like it's my problem! Eventually they gave me a new room, but as we all know, it's pain having to repack and move. It's a shame, as the rooms are quite nice, but even parking your car is quite a maze. Allow at least an hour to check in, find your parking and getting to your room. Some signage would be useful through out the many buildings. Not recommended for disabled, elderly or wheelchair bound guests.

I rang Mantra to see which of the hotels they have in Canberra was the best...they said Peppers Gallery I didnt take their special offer on the other Mantras because I wanted a really nice comfortable place...on arrival they suggested that to park I would have to pay $15 a night to park next door (outrageous!!!)...then the de-luxe room (haha) was like a broom cup...and so claustrophobic that at 11pm I had to go to desk and say Ill go mad if I have to stay in that room...they upgraded me for the next 2 nights (plus $40 each night)...this apartment was fabulous and the staff were helpful it has to be said...(but theres still a problem with getting parking money back for the last 2 nights)...but be warned that the tiny rooms are abysmal and to be avoided!!! Panic rooms !!!! Never again no windows and no balconies and no breathing!!! Help I cant breathe !!!!
