    • Plenty of space - but can't escape the traffic noise

This is a reasonable place for a walk to stretch your legs, but not worth more than about half an hour's drive, I would say. There is a 6 a car parking fee (four people 1.50 each) which didn't seem unreasonable The map available at the entrance is not to scale and many of the paths we found are not marked on it. There's a large expanse of grass, and it would be a good place to bring children to run off some energy. The adventure playground was good. I don't know if it was the wind direction, but I could hear the M4 motorway from most parts of the park, and from some areas you can't escape the industrial landscape of Port Talbot. So it is not a place to go to escape into the countryside, but there is plenty of space to run around, or for a picnic.

Great spot if you want to make picture and for long walks. Entry is free unless you come by car. Friends of Margam often offer free tours in the castle.

    • Italian food festival

Visited as we saw the food festival being advertised and it seemed like a nice thing to do on a summer sunday. Hmmm we arrived around mid day, very disappointing FESTIVAL with 4 food trailers and one drinks stall. Perhaps the weather conditions being the biggest infuence. Very little seating available. Luckily it was a sunny afternoon so able to sit on the grass. Decided on a walk around the park before lunch so we set up on the circular walking path with route 4 taking us over by the Abbey museum.. there is parking available by there and up behind go ape to avoid the over priced 6 parking charge. Personally the park isn't sign listed well enough with toilets nowhere to be seen down by the orangery pointing in that direction. We tried looking at the App route map but not working. Also have to pay for the map from the shop. Not very useful. I agree with another reviewer where its stated this park is missing a trick with no forward thinking at all....and lack of insight and interest into this park which has tons of potential. The cafes prices are extortionate with basic, processed meals being offered. The welsh cakes were 4 for a pack of 2!! Ridicolous! Could offer so much more with a bit more effort!! Very poor all round.

Firstly the car park is 6 pounds all day, and closes at 6pm, so if you are visiting I would recommend getting there early so you can spend a good few hours there. Secondly, check the website or ring up to see if any events are being held at the park on the day of visit, as you will need to pay to attend the event on top of parking. It's a nice place to walk the dog and it has several things for the kids to do, park, deer, animal area, train (got to pay extra for the train) The House/castle is impressive, lots of information about the history and the family that lived there. There is a tour around the house, but again check website for times.
