Me and my husband Ben came here after our wedding in Puglia and this has been one of our favourite places in Tuscany! Giacomo,Laura and Ubaldo are absolutely amazing and welcoming. The quality of service and the rooms are unbeatable. We highly recommend the cooking class with Laura and Mami - it was a lot of fun and they even made a custom beautiful recipes booklet - very thoughtful! Finally, the private wine tour in Montepulciano was incredible - Giacomo kindly drove us there and we spent some hours learning about the history and testing a lot of delicious local wines from Cantina Ercolani. We will definitely be coming back!

    • Nice...But you can do better for this price point

My wife and I stayed at San Sanino in late May for three nights. The accommodations were comfortable and clean, including an amazing bathroom (that included a hot tub!). The grounds were also beautiful, however, this certainly isn't what you would expect when paying greater than $500/night. Our major feedback for the property is as follows: Breakfast - When staying at most European hotels, especially in Italy, the breakfast tends to be substantial with multiple options. We found that the breakfast had less options each day and pales in comparison to the quality/quantity of other hotels in Europe for this price point. Pool - While May 2019 was a terrible weather month in Tuscany, the pool was closed even on days when it was sunny. The owner advised that this would take time to clean/set-up, but one of the major selling points of the hotel for us was the pool. Dinner - The hotel offers a dinner package for $100/pp. We booked this our first night at the hotel as we had been driving all day. We were in Italy for 7 days and this was our most expensive, lowest quality and quantity of food in one meal. The meal consisted of a small portion of soup, boiled pasta from a box, a very small piece of steak, and vanilla ice cream with hot fudge. You can get a similar meal within 15-minutes drive for less than $50 total. The wine list also has nothing on it for less than $50, while several restaurants in the area offer a house wine for less than $10/bottle. Nickel and Dime - The hotel doesn't offer anything "extra" without a charge. They don't even offer a bottle of water each day, but require you to pay several Euro/per bottle. This is complementary at every other hotel we stayed at in Europe. No flexibility - Due to the poor experience and no pool availability, we asked to check-out a day early. Unfortunately the owners would not refund our money. His response was that "not all women think Brad Pitt is attractive, we are that woman in this case." I can tell you that under this analogy, this hotel is not Brad Pitt. We ended up leaving a day early regardless. It was worth the extra money to make the trip more satisfying. Bottom Line - Nice property and hotel if it were $200-$300/night, but for the price point they offer you can do a lot better for your money.

My husband and I were able to spend three days in Tuscany and stayed at Villa San Sanino. Pictures do not do the beautiful location justice. The grounds are spectacular...I wish that I was able to have gardens like these. The rooms are spacious, and since the villa only has 4 rooms, we only saw one other couple for our entire stay here. Breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. The rooms are completely modernized and our bathroom was the fanciest Ive ever seen. There are small towns all around to visit easily. Its apparent that the family has poured themselves into this place and you will love staying here.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Villa San Sanino. The family was so welcoming. The host, Jacomo, was extremely helpful in setting up our daily itinerary. The breakfast was wonderful, and the family will cook a typical, delicious Tuscan dinner upon request. As for the accommodations, they were lovely. The farmlet is in one of the most beautiful areas of Tuscany. I would definitely stay here again. Such a lovely place.

My husband and I traveled to Italy from 27 September to 7 October. We spent a few nights in Rome and the remaining 5 nights at Villa San Sanino. Our time in Tuscany was truly magical. Staying at Villa San Sanino was THE highlight of our trip. The views are breathtaking. The accommodations are luxurious yet we still felt at home. The family that owns and runs the property is a group of caring and warm people who truly want your experience to be the best. My husband and I were served a wonderful breakfast each morning. Giacomo provided us a travel itinerary based on our interests each morning. The location of Villa San Sanino is a perfect home base for exploring Tuscany and beyond. We spent time in Pienza, Bagno di Vignoni, Cortona, Montefollonico, Montepulciano, Cortona, Radda (in Chianti area), Siena and Orvietto. We went on a wonderful wine tasting day trip organized by Giacomo. The highlight of the trip for me was a personalized cooking class right at the main home of the Villa where we learned to make incredible tiramisu, hand made pici pasta, an incredible ragu and more! At the end of the night, we were presented with a customized cookbook filled with all the recipes from the class as well as keepsake photos. Mom, Mami, Dad, Giacomo, Bianca, Fortunata (my new favorite cat) are all treasures who helped my husband and I make our 20th wedding anniversary trip the trip of a lifetime. If you are looking for a balance of luxury and warmth, look no further - you have found it at Villa San Sanino.
