Stayed here with the wife for a weekend mid August and was once again impressed. The staff were all polite and very helpful. The rooms were comfy, spacious and clean! The food is very good in the hotel bar too. Breakfast was excellent to set you up for a busy day and the portions very hearty. I recommend this hotel to couples, singles, groups and dog owners. We will be back.

Those of a certain age will remember this once great hotel - eagerly seeing the menu for the day being posted on the front door, the dessert trolley, choice of sorbet.... All these are long gone of course, but recycling tired pub fayre from next door at inflated prices will simply not compete with other nearby hotels. The empty restaurant speaks for itself. Slovenly staff - if youre going to say f*** off in the kitchen, try not to let everyone hear. Blocking the lounge with a pool table just about sums up the decline. Shame

Lovely, home away from home feel, very clean, staff fantastic, the food was great, was a great place for relaxing or some serious walking, obviously the weather isn't brilliant but "no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes". Definitely recommend, will visit again

    • Staff made this good hotel great!

Our friends had chosen this hotel to host a small 'milestone birthday' celebration. Staff could not have been more helpful. They arranged for us (10 adults / 5 children) to have a single table in our own area of the dining room for all our meals, They also allowed us to decorate 'our area' with banners / balloons etc on Sat eve. Staff also reserved the small lounge for us for our pre-dinner drinks on party night. Our bedroom was large and airy with super-comfortable twin beds. The quality of our food at both breakfast and dinner was great. Several of us opted for the fillet steak option one eve which was especially excellent. We had been warned that the eve meal portion sizes are large - too large for me. But having had a good hearty breakfast the hotel had no issue with me then having just a starter or starter & dessert instead of a main course. Sadly, some food was wasted before I realised just how much food they serve you. In the adjoining Talbot bar, 2 of us shared a single portion of fish & chips which was plenty. A lovely, oldy wordly hotel that thankfully retains its character but meets our modern day requirements. The hotel provides free WiFi but mobile phone signal is poor - but we didn't find that an issue.(We were glad to get away from the constant 24/7 technology for the duration of our 3 night stay).
