      First the positive, good location, bracelets for room entry and AI. Swimming pool good and 2 bars. Room satisfactory, great views. Now the negative food terrible. The worst we have experienced. 1 star standard. Hot food served luke warm/cold. Very cheap food served, 4 choices but all poor. Survived on bread & vegetables! Drinks on AI, wine and beer were cheap & rough. Sunbeds have no parasols for shade but we always got a sunbed. Staff can only speak a little English. Staff look very sad especially in the restaurant. Bar closes at 11pm.staff tidy up around you from 10.40 & ask you to leave at 11pm prompt. We would not return.

    • Good hotel with unprofessional "client relation" stuff

      I traveled with my boyfriend on a 5-night vacation in August. First of all, when we arrived at the hotel around 17:00 -> we received a room where a couple was already staying. Together with the hotel staff from the reception, we entered over another couple, in their room (these were in bed and the situation was extremely embarrassing). Then we got the new room, free of people this time, it was very dirty, with the toilet wiped, dust and hair over the bed. I noticed stuff from the reception that we did not want that room, but instead of receiving another one, we were asked to wait until the room is cleaned - although we were after a 10-hour drive, and we arrived at a decent hour 17. The personal from the reception told us that due to the inconvenience created, we will receive a new room the next day, overlooking the sea, for a fee - 10 levs a day. We initially rejoiced in the belief that we would be favored, but later we saw that this was the hotel policy (a poster was placed in the hotel elevator - any tourist could benefit from this "offer"). The next day, in the morning we went with confidence to get our new room, the surprise was that NO room with sea view was free - ensuring again that we will receive, free of charge this time, the next day - a situation that made me extremely upset. The THIRD day, we received the promised room, this time an extremely clean room, with a beautiful view. The problems reappeared when we left. We parked the car in their underground parking lot, WHERE WE WERE GUIDED BY THE HOTEL STAFF. Unfortunately, a drain pipe was broken in that day and much of the dirt getting on our car! scrap, debris,... We asked to deduct us from the price of parking for 5 nights, the car washes, but we were refused on the grounds that they have this service - SERVICE THAT WAS ONLY A JOKE- IN THE BACK OF THE HOTEL, THE STAFF TRYING TO COURT- AFTER THIS, FLIES WERE OVER OUR CAR, NOT TO MENTION NOTHING ABOUT THE UNPLEASED SMELL TILL THE FIRST CARWASH WHICH WE HAVE BEEN Suffice it to say, the location is GREAT, the restaurant and bar exceptional - and the staff there. However, if you are the kind of person like us who wants to be treated humanely, and in case of any inconvenience to apologize and to receive compensation, do not expect to do so. We were not absurd, we understand the mistake, it is human, but the attitude of the staff afterward was really unpleasant. I will come back with pictures of room and car :)

      Fantastic hotel all the staff are great lovely location and a special mention to Johan on reception always helpful and the views from the sky bar are breathtaking we will definitely return hopefully next year

    • Reception staff kept our passports and made us pay for delivery

      Dear Hotel Management Team, We were staying in your hotel 15-17 August 2019. We would like to report an act of severe unprofessionalism from hotel staff that spoilt the impression of the whole stay and hotel in general. In brief: the hotel reception staff kept our passports during the whole our stay, didnt give it back during check-out and made us pay 150 Leva for our passports delivery. In details: 17 August my husband gave the passports to hotel reception staff during check-in. The staff asked him to come back after we park the car. We parked the car and came back to finalize the check-in procedure. We waited for several minutes, got the keys, but not the passports. The same day we approached reception again to extend our stay for one more night - no passports were given back to us. During our stay we approached the reception several times (when the keys from the room stopped working or when we had questions etc.). No one ever told us about the passports. When we were checking out 19 August - same. We brought back the towels, the bracelets - but didnt get back the passports. After leaving the hotel, while being 2.5 hours drive away from Nesebar, we realized that the passports could have stayed in the hotel. I called the hotel and reached Polina, the administrator who confirmed that the passports were at the reception but she had no idea why. Polina discussed with her manager what could be done. Polina was very helpful with quickly organizing the delivery for us (we have our flight home the next morning so we needed the passports urgently!). Thank you Polina for this and for later facilitating the communication with the driver who brought the passports!However, I was also informed that the delivery would be at our expense and will cost 150 leva. I agreed immediately - because needed the passports ASAP and negotiations would cause a delay and more stress. However, do you think that it is fair to charge us for this delivery? It would be understandable if our belongings were left in the room. But the reception staff were keeping it themselves! and I am sure it violates the hotel procedures. Are they allowed to keep the guests passports, if yes - for what reason and for how long and shouldnt they give it back especially if the guests check out? I believe they should but they simply forgot. In this case should we pay for hotel staff mistakes, I really would like to know the hotel management position. We would be happy to receive apologies and delivery costs refund (150 leva).

      We stayed at the Sol Marina Palace 29th July 2019 for one week. We were given room 407 but due to a late flight we didn't see the amazing view until next morning and what a view!! We liked the size of the room and bathroom and balcony looking directly over to Nessebar and everything was spotlessly clean. Bed linen changed three times during our stay. We liked the dining area as there was no rushing at the food as we have had before in other hotels, and the option to sit outside at the little wooden tables was a lovely change. (No flies in the restaurant). The food we found quite good, not always to our taste, but Mario cooking the meat by the door was very friendly even though he didn't speak our language, and his food was tasty and hot. The only thing we found could be a bit hotter were the chips on occasion but when they were hot they were delicious. My husband enjoyed the AI drinks, especially the rum and brandy but I was a little disappointed to find there were apparently no diet soft drinks available. Cocktails were good on AI and the Sky Bar was a huge success with brilliant views, excellent bar staff (Nikita/Teodor/Roslana, and people were all friendly and would chat often when they saw you sitting up there. (Good sun trap too). The Bulgarian night was good in a way but timed to occur whilst you were having your evening meal which meant there were people walking back and to the food whilst the dancers were performing. Tip: doing this either before or after the specified mealtimes would be better. Staff on Reception we found OK, could speak English and answered our query re. checking out. The only member of staff we found not good was the very odd "porter" who showed us to our room and was rooted to the spot until he was tipped. This has been mentioned on Trip Advisor before and we hope that someone at SMP has a word with him NOT TO DO THIS!! We gave him 10 Lev which was lowest note we had just to get rid of him, he must make a fortune for doing not very much at all. Nessebar Old Town we fell in love with, as we had hoped, as we loved the cobbled streets and ancient buildings dotted around the very quaint town. My husband in his element as found a shop selling Belgian Beer!! which we visited every day. Nice boat ride across to Sunny Beach for a change but glad to get back to peaceful Nessebar. All in all this was one of the best holidays we have ever had, my husband determined to return next year to the Sol Marina Palace. Thank you (nearly) all Staff.
