We visited Spicers Balfour as a special night out for our last date before getting married. We absolutely loved it! As soon as you walk in its just beautiful to look at. We started our night at the gorgeous bar over looking Story Bridge. We then went back downstairs and had dinner on the deck. The food was amazing, we couldnt fault it! We did the three course tasting and we are so happy we did as we got to try a bit of everything. Dom our waiter took us thought each dish and helped us pick a great bottle of wine to go with our meal. He was very friends, helpful and knowledgeable. Well definitely come back again!

Unfortunately our Room, Room 7 was right next to the kitchen prep room. The whole afternoon & evening the smell from the kitchen was terrible. We ended up ringing reception at 10:30pm as the smell was so over powering & we couldn't sleep. The staff member on duty was good & she got the door to the kitchen shut & knock on our door and gave us a candle to try and alleviate so of the seafood smell. I recommend that the hotel keep their kitchen prep door closed at all times for the comfort of their guests. The Breakfast was really yummy and the Breakfast staff were very efficent and lovely.

Arrived after a long flight around 7pm. No one was on reception so I rang the bell and a waiter from the restaurant came down and checked us in whilst opening a bottle of wine.. Looked a tough gig full of multi tasking. We were taken up a very large set of stairs through a full restaurant to our room which was unfortunately facing the restaurant directly in front. Room was lovely, everything has been considered, would be great for business travel as well. Noise levels were loud until restaurant closed. I did see many other rooms downstairs and thought it was an interesting choice when I had mentioned we were getting in late to give us the room facing the restaurant. We were offered no assistance to drag our suitcases up the massive staircase and past the people in the restaurant in direct view. Not ideal.. Breakfast was lovely the next morning and the manager on did offer to help us with our suitcases down the stairs on check out. On check out the man on check out did not ask us how our stay was which was interesting. Was more worried about what we were doing for the day. All in all still a good hotel. Should probably mention the stairs if you have luggage and the parking is very small and restricted. Did the job for an overnight stay and would recommend to clients for business stays. Ticks a lot of boxes.

Meets expectations every time. The Suites are a lovely space to spend some well earned time out from work and the casual friendly and classy common areas are relaxing and no hassle. Staff are pretty good too

Great property close walk to Howard Smith Wharves. Balfour Kitchen cooks up an amazing dinner and breakfast. Is hard to believe they fit so much into an old Queenslander. The rooms are quiet and private - considering the age of the original building
