    • Awesome place in the middle of nowhere

      Reviewed 03 July 2019

This is a hidden gem in the middle of the jungle. feels like heaven once you reach there. Road is pretty steep and advised not to do a self-drive. The farm owners are very friendly and helpful and they will arrange a pick-up (at cost) through their regular cab drivers network who are expert in driving in this roads. Also GPS stops working from almost 10 kms ahead so ensure that you reach there early during the day. Great rooms and super arrangement.

We had a lovely time at this fine farm; We never felt that we would come to harm! A tea estate down in a valley, From B'dogra Airport you must rally! By driving through the mountain mists And down again with twist on twist. You wake up to the sound of birds And foggy vistas clouding words. A tray of tea and lounging chair A lowing cow without a care. Now we know it's the Gurkhas who Possess the fabled Xanadu!

    • A haven for Nature lovers

      Reviewed 08 May 2019

The place is a heaven. It is nestled in the hills, away from the crowd of the city. Naveen and Praveen are the perfect host, they not only take immense care of the property so that the rooms & cleanliness meets your expectations but they also ensure that you feel at home in their abode. For Nature lovers this is a paradise, the Deck that they have offers amazing views and complete serenity. My family spent an entire day reading , talking and gazing into infinity on that deck. They serve home cooked and home grown food, which is a relief from the oily & spicy hotel food that you usually get. The staff is courteous and will ensure you have a nice time. Activities There is a small stream close to their property, about 10 min walk in the hills. They also have a Swimming pond (yes, not pool ! Naveen insists :) ) You can go for walks around the farm or to the nearby villages. All in all a perfect place to spend quality time with your loved ones or alone just enjoying the tranquility. We were there for 2 nights and wished we had stayed longer. Definitely a place we'd like to visit again.

    • Nature Escape

After a few hectic days in Darjeeling we arrived in this beautiful haven just an hour away where we were surrounded by peace, nature, and amazing food. This place is perfect if you are in need of a tranquil escape from the cities. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. We felt at home as we shared tea, delicious home cooked meals, and great conversation. The farm itself is beautiful with many trails to walk and enjoy the surroundings. We walked to the crystal clear river where we enjoyed a dip and could just sit and listen to the water flowing. This place is also perfect for birdwatching, we saw several species of birds and enjoyed their songs throughout the day. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and you can just stay in your balcony sipping some tea and enjoying a good book. If you are a dog lover, youll be happy to meet the super friendly dogs that even guided us to the river and made our stay so much happier. This was the best ending to our trip to India. We highly recommend it!

    • Peaceful place to stay

We had a lovely time at Tathagatha. Navin and the staff looked after us very well, and we really enjoyed sharing the meals together (fantastic food too!). We enjoyed exploring the farm and local area - the dogs came with us to show us the way. The highlight for us was the walk to the Sikkim border - it was a 7 hour walk along country paths, tea plantations and farms, across a river and through a forest up and down a mountain to the border. Our guide for the walk (also called Navin) really took care of us well. We would highly recommend talking this walk when staying at Tathgatha to anyone who enjoys being in nature.
