    • A gem of a hotel!

I have seen the Lodhi hotel transform and bloom into something fabulous. I loved what the Aman group did to the hotel architecturally. There was plenty of wide open space and you retained your privacy but what it lacked then was service. Which is surprising since it was a Aman property and the Aman resorts are so quiet and beautiful. I think its because Aman trains their mostly local staff not to poshen up but soak you into their regional hospitality. And that might not work for the Delhi taa-Dee-fun crowd. Back to the Lodhi- a decade ago, What it made up in aesthetic sense it lacked in service. I remember going a few years ago with my toddler for an ice cream and the ice cream arrived melted. The waiter took it back but the second one came 20 minutes late and in a puddle which ensured a huge tantrum. A lunch went on for ever because the device was so slow. But all thats changed now. In the last two years the transformation in terms of service has been absolute. I frequent their restaurants and I love the food but more than that its the service thats amazing. The waiters are smiling, nothing is not possible or too much trouble, it feels Like the hotel goes out of their way to make you comfortable. I have been a Taj loyalist for as long as I remember - but recently do realise that the old man of the indian hotel industry has begun to rust. And I could never take to the Oberoi- they are too cut throat and business like. What the Lodhi has is warmth and It is the place to stay at or frequent because thats what makes it so special. The Managing team is very accommodating and warm- they will try and see that every request is fulfilled. A family dinner went off fabulously so did a girls lunch and a kids affair. So its best suited for the entire family. Just make sure you dont tell everyone because then it will be trodden over by the loud, money brandishing, Head to toes designer wearing crown and become one of the many.

We stayed just 1 night on arriving late into Delhi, despite it being 1.30am on arrival, we received a very warm welcome from the front desk, immediately shown to our room with little paperwork fuss. The rooms are large & beautifully designed with a spacious terrace. Breakfast was included: an a la carte offering with every dish you could wish for. The food was Service was attentive & friendly. We left relatively early to begin sightseeing so unfortunately didnt get a chance to use the facilities on offer. Highly recommended for central New Delhi location.
