My husband and I just spent four nights Monday, August 19 through Thursday August 22nd. We found the staff friendly and accommodating, the room was very clean, parking was a bit tight, and the Wi-Fi could probably use a booster. All in all, we would come back. The location is is right in town and you can walk to absolutely everything. The pool and the beach are right there. They have free kayaks, row boat to borrow. The Front desk staff and chambermaids and grounds staff were all terrific!

    • Room 131 Summer Getaway

It was a last minute getaway and I originally reserved the Super 8 because of kid friendly activities. This was our first time at Lake George as a family and I wanted by boys (8 & 11) to have a blast and forget that the Great Escapes was down the road. My gf informed us of the Sundowner where they have been staying for 15 years every summer so I booked the only available room 131. Far enough from the lake, but closer to town. The pool was usually empty, the weekend was busy but weekdays was fine. Very clean. Pros: A small fridge and 3 public grills available for you to use for lunch or dinner. We brought sausage, hamburger, steak and chicken and never ate out until dinner time. The lake front area is small but not busy. I don't know where everyone went in the morning, but we headed down around 10am and stayed until about 4pm. Swim out further into the lake for more swimming area. 4 paddle boats and 1 or 2 paddle surfers for FREE! It got busy, but guests played well. Very clean rooms, housekeeping usually came around 9:30am which was way early for us. Cons: The rooms are dated, but who cares, get out of the room you are on Lake George. The bedspread are very dated, we took ours off and brought our own blankets. The garbage cans in the room are tiny, we kept taking trash down ourselves. The towels are small and very hard, pat dry and keep it moving. The grills were not maintained well and one of them had no gas. Better upkeep would be great.

Let me first say, I consider myself an average Joe and not the complaining type. Our family has stayed here for a long weekend once a summer for the past 6 years. Theres usually about 20 of us and we rent 10 rooms. Well, each and every one of us have agreed that this was the last year well be staying here. Their were stains on the bedding, moldy scum in the bathrooms, electrical outlets hanging out of the wall, towel rack falling out of the sheetrock and our door lock was as crude as it gets(see photos). It was a screw in the door molding with a wire attached to it that you had to loop around the door handle. Im told its under new ownership and weve watched it consistently decline over the past couple years. The location is great and its a shame that they dont keep up with repairs and cleaning. Im baffled at how many people give it good reviews. Ill let the attached pictures do the talking.

My family loved this place except for the room . We were able to see in other rooms and they were updated and clean . Ours was clearly very old . Was great for us and kids to get to town and enjoyed beach and barbeque . But hoping they update the room it was like being in 1975 . This was the lock on our door . Which we were very uncomfortable with and staff said they coukd not move our room . Seemed only top level was not redone yet . Looking forward to trying back there next year and requeating a better room because beach and pool was perfect

Great place at a reasonable rate. Very clean. Parking can be an issue, especially when thoughtless parkers take up more than one space. Room was comfortable and clean, and the AC Worked well through the heat wave (95!) Only one complaint - towels were small and cheap.
