Sadly we'll be leaving later today for the journey home having had a really fantastic break. We found the hotel, which is well situated, only a couple of hundred meters from the main beach, to be well appointed and spotlessly clean throughout. Everything was clearly described without embellishment which in my book shows great integrity these days. Yes, parking is limited, yes there are stairs but the owners clearly state this, so (if you read the information), you get exactly what was expected. Each evening we watched the 'Sand Man' creating his beach art with literally hundreds of tourists watching. I didn't hear a single negative comment. This brings me to the previous post here that I read over breakfast this morning, prompting me to set the record straight. The 'contributor' has made 2 posts on Trip Advisor, both ranting about the 'Sand Man' and to use this platform to wage a private war is low in the extreme. Their comments about the hotel are unjust, unfair and simply as wrong as it gets! (How are people allowed to review something they have no personal knowledge of anyway Trip Advisor?) Their comments about the Sand Man are clearly based on their perception/possible previous dealings but at the very least are low brow and probably libellous and without evidence. I can only say that during the time we watched each night during our stay, we saw no 'violent raking', chasing of old ladies with dogs (which aren't allowed on the beach in any case at this time of year) but only crowds admiring what the guy was creating and a very few inconsiderate plebs walking over it, which made me wonder just how selfish many people are these days. To use this platform and to try to harm a very reputable (from actual experience!) business is gross and says much more about their sad little existence than anything else. You should be ashamed! The power of the internet? One little keyboard warrior trying to ruin other peoples livelihoods. Disgusting!

My wife and I recently had cause to attend a wedding in Torquay and needed somewhere to stay for a couple of nights. We needed to find somewhere close to the location of the wedding ceremony and reception on Belgrave Road. Needless to say, when searching on goggle, there were many properties on display but I have to say that we were very fortunate in selecting the Trelawney which turned out to be a wise decision when compared to some of the other wedding guests. The Trelawney is the friendliest place you will encounter, owned by Paul and Liz who, despite being Mancunians from "across the border", are the most hospitable and cooperative owners you could ever wish to meet. The whole place is spotlessly clean, breakfast is freshly cooked to order (based on preordering the night before) and the location is only a short stroll away from the town centre and harbour areas. All in all a very pleasant experience and one which we will hope to repeat.

My new fianc and I had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Trelawney. We didnt want to leave! The hotel was on a main road, easy to find and only a 10 minute stroll from the town centre. We managed to secure one of the two parking spaces available at the rear of the hotel but there was also ample street parking nearby that we were kindly sent a street map of. We were met with a very warm welcome from Liz who kindly showed us a town map on our arrival and made some restaurant and tourist spot recommendations. She took our bags and showed us up to our room. Our room was spotless and kept tidy throughout our visit. The hotel was kept meticulous inside and out. There is a fabulous seating area at the front of the property amongst a wonderfully vibrant garden. Paul and Liz were out one morning hosing and sweeping the garden down from top to bottom. It is a beautiful garden. We had a fabulous cooked breakfast every morning which filled us up for the day. Lots of coffee, juice, fruits and cereals were available too. We took Liz up on her restaurant recommendations and visited a newly opened Indian restaurant in the centre of Torquay. It was stunning food! We also visited the oldest pub, Hole in the Wall, on our last night and had the best meal out of the trip. Thank you once again for your recommendations Liz and for a fabulous stay.
