    • 6th stay and hope to make it many more

      Reviewed 29 August 2019

This was our 6th stay at this fantastic hotel so we decided to try Victoria for 2 as our children didnt come with us this time. Well, what can I say, Victoria for 2 is amazing. I didnt think the hotel could get any better, but they certainly have raised the bar. The rooms are gorgeous, we stayed in a ground floor swim up room (418). They are large, airy and kept spotlessly clean ( a big thank you to Pasgas). The whole section is maintained beautifully and every member of staff will say hello. Even though the rooms are next to the public beach, the local people are very respectful ( must just point out that hotels dont own any of the beaches so the public are able to walk wherever they wish to on the beach but not use any of the sun lounges or equipment). It was lovely to have a restaurant, Morris Beef, designated to the adults only. All the staff here, Rak ( definitely management material), Baby, Luchoo, Vik, Rishi, Vinesh, Jordan, Anju and the rest of the team, were brilliant, very friendly and attentive. My only criticism, and it is a small one, is that sometimes our hot food arrived warm/ cold and there were times where we had to wait for a long time for the food to turn up after ordering it. This may be because they are sharing a kitchen with la Cassa. This seems such a shame especially when Morris Beef have a great new kitchen which only seems to be used to cook steaks and chips. Maybe this is something that can be improved on. The stray cats and dogs are certainly NOT a problem. There are only a few that roam around and they are very friendly, even when children insist on grabbing hold of them, and they are no bother. The hawkers are lovely too, happy to chat and sell their wears or will just say hello and leave you alone, be respectful to them and they will be the same to you. Anyway, to cap it all, we had a great 2 weeks in a beautiful place with glorious weather and will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you again Le Victoria for giving us unbelievable memories

    • The return to Mauritius after 16 years

We have been here before and it was great to return. Thanks to our return, the GM gave us upgraded rooms, thank you. The hotel is great, particularly for families, with a great pool. Service, food and cleanliness; perfect. Should we have any complaints, remove som trees in the gardens. We had a great delux room in the 2nd floor, but you don`t see anything of the fanastic ocean because of the palm trees....

    • Victoria for 2

      Reviewed 29 August 2019

Stayed at Victoria for two with my husband a few days ago on an all inclusive basis, over our fifth wedding anniversary and it was incredible. The Victoria for Two is an adult only part of the overall Victoria Beachcomber resort where the rooms are luxurious and closer to the beach and you get a pool, restaurant, and bar that is exclusively for use by residents of this area only - however you may venture out into any other part of the greater resort and use those facilities too if you'd like. The highlights for me were the staff throughout the resort who are amazing and do their best to make you feel welcome and help. The beach is also super close and kept clean everyday. There is an amazing coral reef right there and so shallow that you can still see exotic fish and other critters without even having to dive.It was great having a restaurant and bar just downstairs for days when you were too tired to walk much or deal with large crowds at the main restaurants.Just as an aside, it's recommended to choose all inclusive as without it you can expect to pay about R250 for a burger and coke for example. The only things that could have been better was the hot water in the room. I'm assuming it's a shared geyser - we rarely ever had HOT water, at best it was always lukewarm and pressure varies. I found it strange that even on all inclusive, snacks in the room were not (so expect to pay about 60 south african rand for a packet of gummy bears). The food, although in abundance, was, as expected catered towards very bland European tastes - NO spice in sight, which is a pity. Lastly, it's important to note that although the Victoria for two rooms, bar, Morris Beef restaurant and loungers ON the beach are reserved for residents, the beach itself is NOT private and cannot be. So DO expect screaming kids playing in the water (and because the rooms are so close to the beach, this is pretty loud), large crowds of locals congregating on the beach and even people fishing right where you swim. Overall though we had a great time. I'm not sure about the main resort as a whole but if you're a couple and want a romantic trip, Victoria For Two really is the ultimate.

The whole experience was brilliant from beginning to premature end. If you ever have the good fortune of being served by a Mr. Ravi Gassia (whether it be at the pool, on the beach or in one of the fabulous bars) count yourself fortunate. You would have arrived a stranger but in him you'll leave with a friend. Fantastic service and professionalism.
